OUT OF ALL THE THINGS Florence had expected that day it wasn't for Sirius to come strolling up to her with his dumb gorgeous smirk. Florence looked up from the teacup placed on her table to see Sirius strolling over to her, she rolled her eyes in preparation for his next accusation.
"Why hello there, Odette." Sirius said, "Can I sit here? I'm gonna sit here."
Sirius sat down next to Florence, a little too close for comfort. The blonde eyed him before making a show a scooting over a few inches. Sirius rolled his eyes and heaved a dramatic sigh.
Florence swore her eyes were going to get stuck inside her head from the number of times she had already rolled her eyes and the boy hadn't even been in her presence for five minutes. "You know, Sirius," she started, "not that I don't love your company, which I do by the way. But, could we possibly skip to the part where you start the argument and then walk away?"
"Oh, I knew you wouldn't let that one go," Sirius said, "Look, I had to make sure you had good intentions!"
"Intentions?" Florence eyed him, "What could I possibly be doing here?"
"Spying for my parents, stalking me, the list goes on." Sirius rolled his eyes, Florence sent him a look of disbelief.
"This wasn't what I came over for."
"What exactly were you hoping for?" Florence asked incredulously, "You made it very clear we aren't friends or anything, so I'm not sure what your intentions are."
"Oh, and you don't say things you don't mean?" Sirius asked, "I say things sometimes I don't mean. I freaked out, okay? I finally met someone that is...decent at season. That doesn't happen. I hate the pureblood world, everything to do with it."
"Aw!" Florence put her hand to her heart, "I am so heart-warmed, truly. That is the kindest thing someone has ever said to me!"
"It came out wrong!"
"It seems to always with you," Florence said as the divination professor walked in.
"Hello, class," the professor greeted in an airy tone, "today I would like you to have a long gaze into your crystal balls, feel what you see. Think about it, and then write down your predictions." The professor drifted back to a corner of the room to polish teacups.
Florence sighed as she pulled the crystal ball towards her. She looked into the ball and squinted.
At first, there was nothing to see but then figures started to seep their way through the image. Florence saw two figures opposite each other and others around them, yelling in the middle of what seemed to be a street. One of the figures quickly disappeared along with what seemed to be over a dozen people.
Florence looked away from the image with a small frown. "What?" Sirius asked.
Florence looked over at him, "What do you mean?"
"Why do you have that look on your face?"
"What look?"
"The frown."
"Oh," Florence said, "It seems to be the natural face I get while in your presence."
Sirius rolled his eyes, "Odette, you are in love with me, don't kid yourself."
"The size of your ego is appalling." Florence made a face close to disgust.
"I don't see you denying it. Don't worry though, love. I am fond of you so it is fine." Sirius said. "Make up your mind - do you love me or hate me? It seems to go back and forth."
Florence pursed her lips, "I'm done with my work, I have very much processed it. I'm gonna ditch!" she picked her bag up swung it over her shoulder, and left leaving Sirius with a satisfied grin.
She was about to leave the class when she turned back to catch a glance at Sirus, only to find him already watching her.
Dear Flo,
How dare you not send a letter?! I am absolutely appalled by this. Anyways, life is good. We miss you so damn much here!
Caroline has taken it upon herself to now gossip in my ear instead of yours. Come back, please!
Studying is god awful. You ought to come to visit this summer, you will be of age so hopefully, your parents cannot stop you!!! MISS YOU.
Love,
Marjorie
Florence smiled down at the piece of parchment from her original redhead best friend. She quickly took out a piece of ripped parchment to scribble down a reply.
The common room was filled with many bodies. The air was full of chatter and laughs, students scattered amongst the armchairs or huddled up against the fire. Florence surveyed the room to find where the location of her friends was, the warmth prickled her skin the moment she had stepped into the room.
The girl spotted an empty armchair by the fire and made a beeline for it.
A few moments later Sirius Black came strolling into the room, making his way over to the blonde.
Florence shot the oldest Black brother a confused glare as he sat opposite her.
"Look, I'm really not in the mood for...whatever this is." Florence started to get up.
Sirius grabbed her wrist to stop her, "Wait," he interrupted, "walk with me?"
Florence huffed. She really didn't feel like fighting with him, but curiosity got the best of her. "Fine."
The duo was walking down the corridor of someplace, Florence wasn't sure she still needed Lily to drag her where she needed to be.
An awkward silence had consumed the two. The sounds of their shoes against the floor were the only thing to be heard. The green-eyed would steal glances every so often at him.
"Nice ceiling." Florence commented, "this place has good architecture."
Sirius hummed.
Florence sucked in a breath as she became very interested with her shoes.
"You know I like you," Sirius spoke out into the silence.
The blonde looked over at him in surprise, "yeah?"
"Yeah." A confirmed.
"Cool."
Florence grimaced at her awkwardness.
Sirius stopped abruptly, "Can I kiss you?"
"What?" Florence asked.
"Can I kiss you?"
"Sure."
Sirius grinned and pulled the girl in by the waist, their lips meeting in the middle. Florence gasped at how quick this action was. Her hand found its way to his hair, her fingers weaving between each strand of it. The pair seemed to fit together perfectly, no matter how cliche that sounds. Florence could feel him smile against her, she matched it.
Sirius broke away, "Wow." he mumbled.
Florence grinned widely, "Yeah."
"MR. BLACK, MS. ODETTE!" A voice exclaimed, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING OUT HERE? IT IS HALF AN HOUR PAST CURFEW?"
Florence and Sirius looked over to see Professor McGonagall rushing towards them.
