Illusion Fever

Gus looks out at the huge stage of the arena for the illusionist battle scheduled for a few hours from now, he was excited! But also terrified.

Ed and Em were close by, talking to Bump as Indigo sat on the stands, looking spaced out as they usually did, it was hard to guess what they were thinking but they didn't seem nervous, he wished he had that confidence.

They hadn't changed into their new attires yet, Emira refused to hand over the outfits till close to the time, which made sense.

Bump calls them all together.

"Now, You four are Hexsides best Illusionists, but be aware, Glandus may be in attendance and try to disrupt the proceedings, do not let them heckle you" Bump says "I will be in attendance of course, so should any heckling begin it will be dealt with"

All four students smiled up at Bump, he felt pride in his chest at these young souls, he wouldn't let those nasty Gladus kids taint those happy faces if he could help it!

"Hold still!" Emira chides as she tries to get the nail polish straight.

"I'm trying to be!" Gus says, hia hands were shaking from nerves, he had watched the twins do each other's nails and was eager to do his too, his was going to be bright blue, Em's were a deep green, Eds were dark gold and Indigo had gone for a bright purple.

Edric was helping Indigo with theirs, Indigo was holding their breath, they didn't like the smell of the nail polish apparently, but they had no qualms with it being applied to their nails.

Once all their nails had dried, everyone got into their outfits and they began heading to their entrance area.

The sound of cheering reaches their ears long before they get there.

Luz and Amity were doing a pre show for them, a small witches duel to keep the crowd entertained as they waited.

Luz slid to a stop across the line that marked her as out and the crowd cheered as Amity's abomination lifted her so they could take a bow.

Luz claps with the crowd, laughing with Amity as the two head for a different exit, talking about the others' techniques and how they could improve.

It was time.

Emira and Indigo stood at the front, spinning circles from each fingertip, soft sounds began to play in a rhythm as their fingers moved, slowly at first before building in tempo.

A drum beat started in the crowd as people began stomping with the beat, although it was started deliberately by a certain few helpers spread out among the crowd.

As the tempo reached its highest, the two quickly dispersed their spells and the area went dark as Gus and Edric cast an illusion over the arena.

Luz had specifically left a light glyph in a specific place and as someone stood on it, it lit up to show Principal Bump standing in the middle of the arena.

"Witches and Demons and all those in between!" Bump calls through his flying microphone.
"Today is the premiere of a new sport, Copyrights to Hexside and the creator" he adds quickly which causes a soft chuckle through the crowd.
"Welcome to the Isles first Illusionist Battle!"

The crowd cheers loudly.

"Now as this is the first time this event had occurred, Hexside is putting forth its best Illusionists to represent us, these four will preform some preliminary rounds to decide who shall take on the next challengers, who is against who you ask?" Bump pauses with a grin.

"Well that is for you to decide, Allow me to show you who you will be witnessing tonight"

Gus and the others grin, they had been told to prepare their fighters in advance to show off to the crowd and get them hyped up.
