A dim ray of light glistened on Ayla's face, splitting them from the precognitive dream.

They clasped the sheets gingerly, stabilizing their sentience in the current reality. " Finally, you're awake." Anla uttered, veiling their anxiety.

" I didn't see you there. How did I get here?" The blonde child asked, scratching their head. The latter shrugged, " You fainted? Do you not remember?"

Recollecting the previous affair, they nodded steadily. " I had the weirdest dream. Oh, never mind that." Ayla rubbed a sturdy hand over crinkled fabric, and stood up bluntly. " Are you sure you should be standing? I mean, you just woke up."

Waving an offended hand of dismissal, they took a weak step, only to cling onto the drab nightstand. Anla rushed forwards, holding their arms out to catch their dizzy friend.

"Is Ayla up? We're getting ice-cream!" Dietrich's muffled voice filtered through the walls, as he called from the kitchen. A concerned glance was hastily tossed to Ayla, " Yes, we will be down there soon!"

Assisting the dazed adolescent, the children made it to a colorless van.

"Yes! When was the last time we dined so finely?" Haythem giggled warmly. "Oh, Ayla! Are you alright?" Jade questioned the other with fake sympathy.

The child nodded, and took a seat in the back. "Ouch! Get your feet off me!" Naomi flipped the blonde's pointy shoes off her seat.

Norman sighed, adjusting the rear-view mirror. "Kids, please behave. Hey- Haythem, do not put that in their hair! I swear, you children are such a handful." He laughed a little, before the uncomfortable somber returned.

The drive to 'Justin's Frozen Sweets' was rather chaotic, and ended with Ruby looking like a small Kardashian.

Dietrich unlocked the heavy doors, and the orphans fluttered out. " A line, please? I'm sure you remember our last trip."

A flashback to 7 year old Ayla wailing with tomato sauce lathered in their hair, Haythem locked within a  freezer with dinosaur nuggets, and the twins fighting over a toy shot into everybody's mind.

Straightaway, the children were lined up accordingly. A mutual feeling of unity was formed to not repeat past mistakes. The group eagerly flocked inside the store.

Norman observed the evidently vacant shop, " Justin? Are you there bud?"

Justin Bieber, an angsty teen with brown hair, appeared. " Mr. Dietrich! I haven't seen you in, well, forever!" He frowned, and shook his gloved hand at the assembled youth.

Jade sauntered arrogantly to the display of the frozen dessert, and pointed a firm finger in the direction of the rainbow flavours. " Unicorn Splash, medium cone."

"Someone's not in a good mood!" Bieber casually joked, receiving a warning glare from Norman. "Uh, sorry, Jade."

Dietrich solemnly ordered for the rest, having memorized their preferred flavour. "Um, Mr. Dietrich?"

He looked down at an alarmed Ruby, "I don't want to ruin  my dress." Anla was in a crouched position, shielding themself from the hurled ice-cream.

Mischievously, Haythem was launching his treat while snickering. "Ah, to be young again. Just go sit at the booth over there." Norman patted her back reassuringly.

To be so blind, the pastor longed for it. He missed the blazing days when his mom would cheer him up with his favourite meal. When it was okay to show emotion, but he was past those years.

A thought struck him, he missed when Pamela was there. She always brought distinction to his interchangeable life. She was the glue, but she was gone now.

"Are you okay?"

Who said that? Dietrich couldn't tell. His breath caught in his throat, unable to break the barriers. His vision rippled with lack of oxygen, and his hands trembled uncontrollably.

Norman wheezed, tears puddling onto the table he sat at. The children crowded him, but it was Justin who single handedly broke his woeful trance. Illusions of Pamela clouded his already revolving mind.

" It's me, Justin. You're safe; everything is going to be okay." He comforted the priest, having experience with these emotions.

The man pulled through, rubbing his tears away. "Thank you, Justin." He appeared embarrassed, "Er, we should go. Keep the change." A crumpled hundred dollars was thrown onto the table, and he left without another word.

Exiting the bland shop, Haythem pulled a saturated Anla aside. "Justin is so cool! I can't believe he knew how to handle that! Wasn't he just so hot- I mean amazing! God really does answer prayers!"

The annoyed child rolled their eyes. " Yeah, whatever you say. Get your ass in the car." He stuck his tongue out playfully, then gave in.

Fastening his leather seat belt, he watched as those under his care remained silent. "Hey, I know what happened there was a little scary. I was just a little worried about global warming?" He lied nervously, shooting an uneasy smile at them.

Norman pulled out gradually, and sped off into the street. His wife haunted him, and his driving reflected that. He was so angry, so mad at the world.

"Slow down!" Naomi's petrified voice rang through clearly, albeit too late. The van and truck collided, sending the truck wobbling on its side. Dietrich felt trinkles of blood run down his sweaty face. A second of realization welted into him, but his consciousness drifted away.
