I woke up to my head pounding and a throbbing in my chest. I tried to sit up, but I was pushed back down by gentle paws. "It's best you don't" A voice said. It was calm, soothing, and completely recognizable, Rainpaw. I saw her deep blue eyes shooting around the room, picking out useful herbs. "What's wrong?" I said and her eyes darted to a spot on my chest then back around the room. I tried to move to see what she glanced at, only to be met by a pain that made the throbbing even worse. "Don't try and move." Rainpaw advised. I tried to focus on something else and heard Jayfeather's voice outside the den. "I told you, she needs space! You can't see her!" I heard him say, he sounded annoyed and exasperated.
"We are her friends! Come on and be reasonable, Jayfeather!" Said an annoyed but powerful voice. I could tell it was Moonstream, a newly made warrior and also one of my newer friends i had made about a moon ago. "Yeah!" A loud voice sounded, it was Strongpaw. I had met her in the apprentice den and we became friends, if you need a laugh, she's got you covered. "Don't you even say anything, Heatpaw!" I heard Jayfeather's voice this time. I could imagine Heatpaw opening his mouth to say something. Jayfeather probably rolled his eyes when Moonstream and Strongpaw spoke. Moonstream's silver pelt shining with it's blinding white streaks and her navy eyes deep in thought. Strongwind's Brown and tan streaked pelt standing on end in frustration, with her amber eyes blazing. I was snapped out of my day dreamings when Rainpaw pressed something again the wound on my chest. I winced as it seemed to burn throughout my chest. "Yeah, it has that effect" she said and used something to hold it in place.
"That's it Jayfeather, I'm going in!" I heard an angry voice say. Heatpaw I thought to myself as he pushed past Jayfeather, Strongpaw and Moonstream following. "You're alive! Great job, this time with only one major wound!" Moonstream said and smiled. Heatpaw softly nuzzled my head "I'm just glad you're okay." he said. "Actually, she's not completely okay yet. She has some healing to do before she can do something other than taking it easy." Rainpaw butted in "Does being a smartmouth count as taking it easy?" Strongpaw asked "Yes, it does" Jayfeather said as he entered the medincine cat den.
"But she will not be training, doing too much hunting, or doing anything she could do that could possibly reopen up the wound." Jayfeather said. I frowned "But that's pretty much my whole life! That will hold me in my apprenticeship longer!" I said whiningly. "Well, that sounds like a you problem." He retorted back. "It's not my fault we dont have a medicine cat that can see the problem at hand!" I said and tried to get up, ignoring the pain rocketing through my body. "Okay, well how about everybody calm down and we can see about getting Brightpaw back to the apprentice den by tonight." Rainpaw said, trying to break the tension. Jayfeather looked at me then stalked out of the den without another word
I know I went too far with my argument with Jayfeather, I was going to apologize when he decided to leave. Anyway, I guess I better focus on getting to the apprentice den. I stood up and immediately leaned, or I guess you could say fell, on Heatpaw. "Take it easy, the wound is still healing!" Rainpaw said cautiously. Heatpaw started walking and Moonstream came and supported my other side. We slowly, but eventually made it to the apprentice den. Heatpaw helped me ease into my nest and I was left alone.
Rainpaw came and checked on me every little bit and did some medicine catty stuff. Sometimes I miss those days, but I remember why I left it. I drifted off to sleep after Rainpaw had given me some poppy seeds to ease my pain for the night. I dreamt of hunting in the woods, but I realized the battle had never happened and I was an actually Thunderclan cat. Everything seemed perfect, until I woke up. When I woke up, I realized how much you miss out on when you black out in a battle.
Shadowclan had stolen prey.
My friend and Lilysnow were hurt.
Bramblestar wanted to talk to me about something.
Plus, the whole clan seemed on edge.
I had a strange and unpleasant feeling the last two things were linked with me.
