I wake around midnight & darken my scales so that they're such a dark purple that they're almost black. Though I can't change the color of my scales, I can darken or lighten them, & when I was younger & didn't have as much self-control, my scales would be lighter the better a mood I was in, & darken the worse a mood. I tiptoe past the sleeping form of my mother & father, & past my 2 year old brother as well, careful not to make a sound. I go to the wall of Dad's old weapons & take a spear off of it's holder.
I sneak outside & fly to the NightWing village, where there aren't as many huts, & I won't get in as much trouble if I accidentally hit an animal. I decide to aim for a large tree beside a small hut, which sits a few talons away. I pull back my arm & poise to throw, but a loud bird call startles me & the spear lodges in the side of the hut instead.
"Whatssat!?" The rough voice of a NightWing yells from inside the wooden structure, & a black dragon exits the hut. I can tell that she's angry & attempt to fly off, but the NightWing grabs the spear, &, thinking me to be an attacker, grows it in the direction of the sound of my wing beats. The spear hits my shoulder & I can feel it shatter the bone of my right wing, earning a agonized scream & causing me to plummet to the forest floor.
"Who's there!?" The NightWing runs over & turns me over so that she can see who I am. All the blood drains from her face when she sees my identity, "P-Princess Firefly!? Oh my moons, if your dad finds out, I'm dead!"
Just then, my dad comes rushing out of the trees, my mom not far behind. My moms scales are the brightest green I've ever seen in my life, & she's holding a very confused Macaw.
"Firefly!" My dad roars & tackles the NightWing.
"Deathbringer!" Mom calls his attention, "Can we focus on our injured daughter!?"
Before I can see what happens next, the loss of blood gets to me & I lose consciousness.
