*Aria's POV*
Pregnant.
The word knocked the air straight out of my lungs. My heart plummeted into my stomach while I felt bile rise up my throat. I couldn't believe the words I had just heard and apparently, neither could the people around me. A stunned silence had filled the air, no one was saying a word, the only sound heard was the movement of the servers.
"O-Oh, well congratulations you two." Marcia stands up awkwardly and embraces Valentina with a smile that doesn't reach her eyes.
With that, the party erupts into a slew of 'congratulations' and 'we're so happy for you'. I'm frozen in my seat, it feels like I'm stuck in a movie as I watch everything unfold before my eyes. My gaze falls onto Xavier who is now standing, surrounded, with a look of detachment.
"Let's go congratulate them, love," Mason speaks up from beside me, bringing me back into reality. I look up at him to see him offering his hand to me.
"Y-yes, of course." I slip my hand into Mason's allowing him to help pull me to my feet.
With each step bringing us closer, my nerves grow and dread settles in.
"Are you okay, love? You're shaking." Mason's voice holds a tone of concern.
"Yeah, I think I'm just a bit chilled. The air has grown a little colder since we've gotten here. And sadly, I'm not wearing a warm suit that can keep the chill from getting to me." I joke, hoping he'll buy it.
"Would you like my jacket?" He starts to slip the jacket from his shoulders and I stop him before he takes it off completely.
"No, no. I'm good for now, I think it was that I was sitting down for too long and I wasn't moving much," Dropping my voice, I pulled him close to me, "Besides, I want you to warm me up later."
With a low groan, Mason wraps his arm around my waist and places a kiss just beneath my ear.
"You're going to be the death of me."
"Whatever shall you do with me?" I look at him with a large smile.
"I shall make you my wife." He gives me a sweet kiss on the lips, making me melt a little on the inside.
Pulling me closer, Mason nuzzles his face into the crook of my shoulder leaving ticklish kisses. His fingers move like little spiders across my skin, making me erupt into a fit of giggles.
"M-Mason, stop! I can't-t!" The giggles coming from my mouth turn a few heads.
"I will never tire of hearing you laugh, my love." Mason pulls away from me and holds my face in his hands.
"I will never tire of you being the reason for my laughter." I give him a sweet smile.
Turning my attention back to the happy couple, I notice Xavier staring at me intently. His gaze sends a chill down my spine. I can practically feel the anger radiating from his toned body, his eyes doing nothing to conceal it. I slow my strides in order, hoping to be slightly shielded by Mason's body.
"Congratulations, you two. I'm looking forward to having a little niece or nephew running around."
For the first time in years, Mason pulls Xavier into a hug. He put their differences aside and acted like brothers again. It warms my heart to see that they still love each other despite everything that has happened between them.
"Thank you, brother." Xavier returns the sentiment.
"Look Xavier, I know what happened put a large amount of tension on our relationship but I would like to put those aside. I can't spend the rest of my life resenting my brother, the only brother that I have. I want to put this behind us and have my brother back. I don't want anyone else standing next to me when I marry the love of my life."
