After the boys' soccer game ended, Mara went to congratulate Kirk on his victory. She was happy that they won, but she also wished they would have lost because her brother will be very cocky about it. Plus he got that date with the beautiful blonde which also annoyed her.
"Hey. That was a good game. Congrats on the victory." Mara told Kirk. The boy turned around to face her and smiled. The two went a bit further from Kirk's teammates to talk.
"You played really well. I bet it wasn't your first time." said Mara. A few seconds later she realised how cringe the last sentence sounded. Her cheeks turned red in no time and she looked at the ground to avoid Kirk's gaze.
He seemed to not catch the dirty meaning about what Mara said and just answered the girl. "No, it was not my first time. But I'm not a skilled player. I've played a couple times at school that's all. But I'm pretty sure the hug actually gave me luck." he said and smiled at Mara. She shifted her gaze from the ground to Kirk and smiled as well.
The kids enjoyed each other's company. Kirk was so deeply lost in Mara's beautiful brown eyes and the girl couldn't stop staring into his. Kirk wasn't thinking for a second. He wanted to lean in so bad. But it was too soon. Him and Mara met like 2 days ago. Puls he wasn't sure if the girl liked him more than a friend. Hell he didn't even know if she actually likes to hang out with him.
"Great game out there, champ." said someone as they approached the two teenagers. Mara recognized the voice. It was her brother Aaron. Mara and Kirk stopped staring at each other to look at Aaron. He put his arm around Kirk's shoulders and continued to talk to him. "I really expected me to do all the hard work but turns out you helped a lot as well. Not that I needed it." he continued.
There it was. His cocky attitude started to show. Mara rolled her eyes at her brother's behaviour.
"What is it little sis? Are you mad I've got a date and you haven't had your first kiss yet?" he 'asked' and laughed.
"Wait, I thought you two are twins." said a now confused Kirk.
"Yeah we are twins but as you might know, twins are not born at the same time. He is 11 minutes older than me." Mara said annoyed. The girl was tired of her brother calling her his 'little sister'. "Don't you have anything to do?" she asked him.
"Oohh, someone is in a bad mood. Alright I'll leave you two to it." Aaron said and left.
"He's going to act like this for a while. He's just proud of himself." Mara said and giggled.
Kirk giggled as well before speaking. "Yeah well I hope that won't be a problem."
Mara laughed and then said. "No I don't think it will."
A few seconds later Anna came their way. She was wet from head to toe.
"Hi you two. Sorry to interrupt but Mara has to go to bird house building class in 5 minutes." Anna said and then left.
"I guess I have to leave. Go take a shower champ. I'll see you later." Mara said and turned on her heels and walked away. As she was leaving, she heard Kirk say a "See you later." She turned around and waved at him with both hands before she entered the art studio.
After Mara left, Kirk went back to his cabin to take a shower. Aaron was inside. He was wearing his day to day clothes and he was brushing his hair. The boy saw Kirk walk in and saluted him. After a quick shower, Kirk went to his bed to grab some clothes as he was wearing only a tower at the moment. No one else was inside. Aaron probably went to meet with that cute chick he kept babbling about. Before changing, Kirk heard a knock. Someone was at the door. It sure wasn't any of his cabin mates. They never knock. So the boy went to open the door.
In front of him stood Mara. She was holding a bird house. The girl wasn't looking at him but when she heard the door open, she shifted her gaze from her shoes to Kirk and started to speak.
"So what do you thin-." Mara said before acknowledging that Kirk was wearing only a towel. Her face turned a hot color of red. Kirk's as well. "Sorry I didn't mean to bother you. I just wanted to know your opinion on the house I built. Anyway, I'll leave you to it." the girl continued and left before Kirk could say anything. Not that he would've. He quickly realised what happened and went back inside, still red-faced.
Later that day Mara, Anna, Willow and Beverly were getting ready for the talent show. Mara didn't tell any of the girls about her latest encounter with Kirk, mainly because she didn't want to think about it anymore.
"Is any of you actually going to compete?" asked Beverly while Mara was applying some eyeshadow for her.
"Nah I don't think so" said Willow and all of the girls agreed with her.
"There you go." Mara said as she finished doing Beverly's make-up.
"Thanks." the girl said and stood up from the floor and went to help Willow pick an outfit for tonight.
"So... what are you going to wear?" Anna asked Mara.
"This pair of black shorts, a short-sleeved black turtleneck with this black shirt over it. I'm going to keep it unbuttoned and I'm going to roll up the sleeves a little." said Mara, explaining every single detail of her outfit. "Oh and also this pair of white Nikes." she continued, lifting up her favourite pair of sneakers that weren't so white anymore.
"Are you dressing like this to impress a certain curly haired boy?" Anna asked again and giggled.
"What?! No of course not." Mara said and went to the bathroom to change. The three girls all laughed at Mara's attempt to decline the fact that she likes Kirk.
When the girls got to the mess hall, they were surprised to see how different it looked. All tables were moved to the side so that there was a big open space in the middle. Kids were running around, eating food from the snack bar or simply sitting and talking.
Mara spotted Kirk from afar. He was sitting at a table with his cabin mates, Axel, Clara and Charlie. Anna saw them as well. She wanted to go over there but first they had to get rid of Willow and Beverly.
"Hey, me and Willow are gonna go hang out with some friends if that's okay with you two." said Beverly.
Mara and Anna looked at each other before saying at the same time "Sure".
As the two younger girls left, the older ones smiled and went to their friends' table. They greeted them and took a sit. Mara was between Kirk and Lars as usual and Anna was between James and Cliff. She quickly kissed James, Lars making a disgusted face at wich Mara laughed.
"Now that the whole gang is here." Clara said making a short pause "Wanna get out of here?" she asked.
"But we just got here." Mara said.
"Let me ask you." Charlie started. "Do you really want to be here?" he asked her, leaning over the table.
"N-no, not really." Mara answered.
"Then let's go." Axel said as he got up. Everyone else started to get up as well. Mara nodded and followed her friends outside.
A/N: I haven't posted in forever and I am so sorry. I'm gonna be honest and tell you that I've been lazy and haven't had the energy to write anymore but I do have around 5 or 6 chapters that I have written all that time ago. Also the period of time that I wrote this story in was when I was doing online school thus having more free time. But now that I am actually going to school I really have to study and do my homework. I will post the chapters that I have already written and I will get back to writing as soon as I have more time because I actually believe in this story and I want to continue it.
