To his surprise the kitten stuck with him. It had been nearly a week after he first let it follow him. Dabi came use to it and even got into the habbit of calling it Kitty.

"Oi, I'm allergic so the pussy has to go."

"Tch. No wonder why no ladies are here." Dabi insulted the man trying to recruit him.

"The cat, I meant the cat, oh nevermind! Are you interested or not? This one mission and you'll be paid generously after." Giran asked. Dabi rubbed Kitty's head as he thought.

"Fine, who else will I be working with?" Giran shrugged. "Donno, I still have yet to recruit the rest. Here, give me your number so I can contact you." Giran pulled out his phone and they exchanged phone numbers.

"Well Kitty, soon we'll get a good amount of money, hopefully enough to last a month or so. When I get it I'll make sure to treat you to a can of tuna, yeah?" Dabi smiled down at the kitten who trotted beside him.

Dabi had found himself passing UA, the high school that trained young heros. It was crowded with reporters, most likely having to do with All Might working there now.

"Huh. Shoto should be going here around this time. He's probably all gown up." Dabi didn't know why he thought about his old life, or why he was talking out loud to a cat about it.

Kitty had ran ahead of Dabi, most likely to hide ahead since it didn't seem to like crowds. But instead of heading from the crowd, Kitty went to it as the reporters ran into the gates.

How did they break the security? Dabi didn't really care much but all he knew was that the cat would get trampled to death.

Dabi ran to grab Kitty but something got in his way.

Or someone.

"Hey what the hell are you doing?!" The man scowled. Dabi had rammed him right in the side.

"I'm trying to keep my cat from getting flattened out by clumsy people like you." Dabi snapped. He went around  picked up Kitty, who seemed unharmed.

"Tch, you're worried about that little guy?" The man swiped a hand, attempting to snatch the cat but Dabi shielded it.

"Hey fuck you, you crusty creep!" The guy smirked and raised an eyebrow. "What, are you going to kill me with that quirk of yours?" Dabi didn't even realize his quirk had activated. He dismissed his flame and started to walk away. He was too tired to deal with some manchild.

"Fine, coward!" The manchild snapped back.

After his encounter with the man, Dabi's mood darkened even more, and the day didn't get any better.

He had ran out of cigarettes and money to buy more. He would usually get more by pickpocketing pedestrians, but  it had started to rain and less people walked down the street. Dabi wouldn't be able to make a clean getaway with no crowd to dissapear in and the only people who were out had ubrellas that made it harder to inconspicuously get close enough to grab something.

The whole day made Dabi not in the mood to find a place to stay for the night so he settled to sleeping in a dumpster.

"Sorry Kitty, I'll make sure tomorrow is a better day." Dabi said with a sigh. The kitten merely licked his nose and gave an encouraging meow. Dabi smiled as he got comfortable.

"You never seem to be unhappy. Goodnight buddy." Dabi muttered before closing his eyes for a fitful night of sleep.

~Thanks and enjoy~
