Mercy drove her best friend to the other side of town to shorten the load that came in her day to day. Apple had initially refused but Mercy insisted. To say that they were best friends was an understatement. Mercy adored Apple and vise versa. When Apple called Mercy and told her she had gotten a job at Petunia's she happily applied just to get the opportunity to see her best friend every day.
Mercy smiled as she adjusted her Gucci sunglasses and looked over at her best friend.
"Aren't you glad you slept in, instead of waking up at the crack of dawn."
Apple only giggled and shook her head. A lot of folks didn't understand Mercy but Apple did. The average chick would have called Mercy uppity and snobbish but Apple found her personality to be amusing.
Mercy was funny, college educated, and extremely laid back all qualities that Apple strongly enjoyed. Mercy equally found Apple interesting even though Apple kept how similar that she and Mercy were under wraps because of the men she dealt with and the neighborhood she lived in.
"Mercy the shade of it all. It's your fault! You kept me up late watching Harry Potter."
"You know me though I'm a Slytherin Queen." She replied flipping her hair getting a hard laugh out of Apple in response.
"Madame Mercedes you're quite the Slytherin if I do say so myself." She laughs.
Mercy smiled and looked at Izzy through her mirror to make sure she was okay.
"You've got such a great kid Apple."
Izzy blushed as she buried her head deeper into her mother's phone watching YouTube.
"Thank you Mercy. After we drop her off we still gonna go get food right?"
Mercy nodded and turned her music up a little singing along as Demi Lovato belted through the speakers.
Apple enjoyed the car ride it was peaceful. It wasn't forced and she could do things that normally made her get criticized.
They dropped Izzy off at school as Apple looked at her.
"All heroes don't need to be big, strong, or wear capes. You're my hero." Apple bends down kissing Izzy on her head. She looks up seeing all the kids lining up to go into class and Izzy runs to catch up.
Apple walks back to the car giving herself a pep talk and nods.
Mercy sat in the car waiting on Apple collecting her thoughts. Mercy was grateful for Apple. Apple pulled her through a really tough time without even knowing it. Occasionally she would fall into deep depressions but thats when Apple came in. She always came through for Mercy that was something that would never change.
As Apple got back in the car she saw Mercy's face and squeezed her hand to provide some comfort.Mercy smiled a little thankfully driving back to the Southside so that they could get some breakfast from a black owned restaurant/bakery that they had found one day on their break.
Apple went in alone and stood in the long growing line her arms crossed with her regular resting bitch face.
"Ya know you'd be a lot prettier if you smiled."
She turned around and seen the same guy she got in order for beeping at her and Izzy.
"Ya know curiosity always kills the cat. I may look angry but this is just my face." She shrugged.
The more she looked at him the more attractive he was. He had high cheek bones with a chiseled jaw line with his hair neatly braided into two strand twists and toffee colored skin that popped drastically against his navy blue Giorgio Armani suit. Sure he was on the skinnier side but he filled his suit out well and his height complimented his voice as well.
Lucky smirked as he saw Apple taking him in and simply deduced it to her wanting some dick.
"So... my name is Lucky and you are..."
She tilted her head looking at him laughing.
"Oh so you're Kandi's brother."
She nodded turning around not offering her name as she moved up in the line.
Lucky felt slightly played and he didn't like it one bit.
"Listen, I don't know what you heard about me but this ain't that. At least take my card." He placed a pink card in front of her as she just looked up at it.
She took the card in silence with no guarantees to use it. She stepped up ordering breakfast for herself and Mercy. Lucky stepped up in front of her, ordered his food as well, and paid for both his order and hers.
"Thank you."
She moved off to the side. Royal wasn't too keen on Apple talking to other guys on a personal level and it seemed like Lucky was trying to do more than be cordial. However Apple was simply just impressed by how Lucky carried himself. However something was off about him to her. Which was why she would never bring herself to use his number.
The girl behind the counter set her order on the counter and Apple smiled at her.
"Have a great day." She paused looking at Lucky. "Thanks Lucky."
Lucky nodded and gave her a half smile making eye contact with her. She left the store slightly taken aback by the interaction since it was so intense. Little did she know that's how Lucky worked. He was so charming and charismatic it almost made you question why you resisted him in the first place. Apple was stubborn though, so Lucky had his work cut out for him.
