I walked up the stairs slowly, listening to the distancing voice from below from my family members celebrating. I shoved down the urge to cry as I dried my eyes and walked into my room.

The look on Isabella's face seemed to keep me pacing. As much as I wanted to tell her to not marry someone she doesn't want to I know Abuela would get in the way, or she'd say something like "You don't know what you're talking about Mirabel" As she majestically flips her hair. I smiled at the rememberance of all her dramatic entrances. I reached my room and Casita seemed to notice something was up as it's shutter shook nervously.

"I'm okay Casita, I just have something I need to write before I get some fresh air." This seemed to calm Casita down as it stopped its rumbling. I walked over to my nightstand. Pulling a notebook and pen out before writing.

All together I wrote everyone a letter, but some of the letters were smudged from some tears that I just couldn't hold in. I grabbed the notes and gently placed them on my bed. I smiled sadly down at them. They stacked high, resembling pancakes. I blinked back tears as I took off my glasses to wipe my eyes. Once the tears were gone I placed them back on. A small smile on my face. I was about to climb out the window when something stopped me.

My heart ached and I turned around. I knew I couldn't go back downstairs now. I would somehow convince myself to stay again and that just wouldn't do. I needed to be strong in order to defend my family. I was the reason the house was crumbling and I needed to stop it.

I turned back into my room. That was when something in the open nightstand caught my eye. I walked over slowly as I gently picked up the small cloth. Even now the smiling faces of everyone on the cloth made me sad. Knowing I'd never get to see Abuela smile like that to anyone but me hurt, but maybe she was right. A none magical was never meant to be born from a magical Madrigal. I was just a hindrance.

I gently held the cloth in my hand as I proceeded to make my way to the window where I could climb onto the roof.

Casita seemed to try and hold me back but I reassured it. "I'm just getting some fresh air. I wouldn't want to disturb the party below. Casita hesitantly let me go and I gave it a small smile as I climbed onto the roof. As soon as I got up the wind greeted me with a fittingly cold breeze. My hair trailing behind me as I slowly took footsteps closer to the edge. I stopped about halfway to the edge.

I took a deep breath as I looked up to the night sky. The twinkling lights shining like bad things never happened. Shining like red wasn't about to stain the madrigal floor. I admit, I had considered dropping into the middle of the house, the floor would be harder and much deadlier but Casita was more likely to stop me. I looked back down, leveling myself to the present as I slowly walked to the edge. Another strong breeze blowing by me as my dressed whipped in the wind. I toned out the yells from below, the music loud as they celebrated the new couple.

I reached the edge much quicker then I had anticipated. I looked out to see a large forest out ahead of me. The leaves rustled as a final wind blew by, now this truly did feel like the end to one of mami's stories. Though someone probably would have defeated the monster long ago. Not allowing the monster to come to terms with itself and do the defeating itself. I took a deep breath. Admiring the fresh air one last time. I looked down at the little cloth that blew in the wind, all the smiling faces looking up at me with horrifying irony as I'd never get to exprience this reality.

I turned around, seeing myself would be the worst part. I'd rather fall backwards like Isabella did in her dramatic entrances. Maybe then I'd have a small taste of what it felt like to be perfection before it was all over.

With one final breath of fresh air, I put one foot out behind me as I leaned back. I wasn't falling yet, I allowed my foot to get used to the air. I heard a scream as someone called out my name. I looked up to see Camilo with a horrified face.
