A portion of my heart goes out to the end of 6th grade.
Returning never felt so amazing.
Reconnecting never felt so surreal.
Reliving never felt so new.A portion of my heart goes out to the simpler times.
Running around the schoolyard.
Chasing each other through the halls.
Screaming at the top of our lungs.A portion of my heart goes out to when I found myself.
A rainbow, painted over the skies that I only thought were blue.
A song, or a few, being hummed as the summer began.
A game, or activity, being found out of the back of the dusty closet.A portion of my heart goes out to the feeling, the people, the things.
What is now nostalgia was everyday back then.
Come out of that closet, bring an activity or two out with you, and you'll find a crowd of people waiting outside for you.
People who know the rules this game, who's skies have been filled with rainbows and colors besides blue, people who will chase you around the schoolyard until your backpack strap breaks.A portion of my heart goes to all of this.
