Dean guided Sam over to the little kitchen table he used. Sam looked around, it wasn't like a typical kitchen but he wouldn't complain. It was spacious, a little island in the middle, and from the looks of it, lots of room in the fridge compartments. Dean went to grab them some beers as Sam sat down. "This is a pretty big place." Sam told him. "Yep, a lot of guys used to live here a long time ago." He said, handing Sam a beer as he sat across from him. "Hunters like you?" Sam asked as he opened his beer, drinking some of it. Dean smiled softly. "Something like that." He said. "It's a lot to explain but I promise I'll the questions you have over the next few.. well, probably months." He chuckled softly. "It's that complicated huh?" Sam asked. Dean shook his head. "Not really. I just don't want to throw everything at you at once." "Well I appreciate that, but it has been a few months since the whole vampire thing. I've had some time to think about things." Sam told him. Dean was relieved with how well Sam was taking all the supernatural news. He had freaked out a bit at first, understandably, but he wasn't running away from it. He was still here with him. "That's true. But there's a lot more then just vampires out there." "Well I think you said werewolves and spirits.. like ghosts. But um... if there are angels, does that mean... you fight demons too?" Sam asked. Dean nodded slowly. "Yeah, yeah those are a thing too. But don't worry about them ok? We're safe in here, nothing can get us." "Well your friend got in here. Castiel." Sam pointed out as he drank. Dean nodded. "Yeah, but the place is warded. So Cas can pop his feathery ass in here but not anything else." Sam nodded slowly. Thinking things over. Dean gently knocked his foot against Sams leg under the table. "Hey, you're safe here. I know it's a lot but try not to worry about it." Sam smiled softly at Dean. "Thanks." He said quietly as he drank.
Dean made small talk with Sam as they drank. Dean found himself asking Sam questions when he thought it would be more the other way around. He felt the mood shift slightly, Sam seemed a bit nervous now, eyeing Dean quickly then looking down at the table. Dean wasn't sure why but he didn't want to push it. "You know it is getting kind of late. How about I show you the spare rooms and you can pick one out?" He said. Sam nodded. "Yeah, yeah I could use some sleep." Dean nodded about to get up when Sam stopped him. "Do you uh.. do you.. sorry I.." Sam stuttered, Dean frowned slightly. "Hey, what's wrong?" Dean asked. Sam bit his lip looking at Dean nervously. "Do you drink a lot?" Sam asked softly. Dean realized that when Sam was eyeing him earlier it was because he was drinking. Dean took a deep breath, worried himself now things might get messy. "Yeah, I guess I do." Dean said, not wanting to lie to Sam. Sam nodded slowly. Dean carefully reached over the table to gently grab his hand. "Look I'm not gonna sugarcoat things with you." Dean said, locking eyes with Sam. "I drink. Especially when hunts aren't great. I do have a temper and I"ll raise my voice and yell at times." He said, keeping his eyes on Sam. Sam just nodded slowly. Still looking nervous. "However, it takes a lot, and I mean a lot to get me drunk. I'll have a drink here and there and be fine. You saw me at the bar. When I was talking to you that was real Sam. And as far as getting a temper, yeah I may raise my voice and yell but I'd never, and I mean never, hurt you while I'm drunk. The only people or things I fight, is drunk assholes at bars, and things like vampires." He said, watching Sam start to relax, squeezing his hand gently. "I know I don't have anyone to vouch for me for you, but I want you to feel safe here.. with me. I wouldn't hurt you Sam." Dean said. That seemed to put Sams nerves at ease. He smiled and nodded. "Thank you Dean."
They both got up and grabbed their bags, Dean gave Sam a quick tour as he lead him down the hall of rooms. "Now theses are all bedrooms. You can put you clothes away, settle in, sleep... this one here is mine." Dean said pointing to a room a few doors down. Sam nodded and bit his lip, opening a door to a room nearby. "Is this one ok?" He asked as he stepped into it. Dean smiled softly. "If you like it then it's yours. For however long you want it for." Dean told him. Sam smiled and glanced around the room nodding. He liked it. It wasn't a huge room, but the bed was big, and the room was close to Deans. "This will do just fine. Thank you Dean." Sam smiled softly. "It's not a problem. Get some sleep, don't worry about waking up early. I'll show you around some more in the morning.." Dean told him and then added. "Welcome home Sam." Sam couldn't help his smile. Looking from Dean to around the room, feeling a lot of emotions. Mostly relieved, and safe. "Thank you Dean. Really.. thank you." Sam said softly, trying to hide the emotion in his voice. Dean squeezed his arm. "You're welcome... sleep Well Sam." He said, sliding his hand from Sams arm to down his back before pulling away to leave the room. "Good night Dean." Sam said as he left. A part of Dean wanted to hug Sam, wanted to kiss him goodnight. But after the talk they had Dean thought it was probably best to take things slow. With Sam coming out of an abusive relationship and worried about his drinking, they could take it slow for now. The last thing Dean wanted was to scare Sam and send him running. He would make this work. They both would. And Dean couldn't wait.
