The interview

It has been two days since those from the future left for their time. It was time to put the next plans into motion.

Regulus got ready to go to the ministry. He was going to give his interview today. And they had selected an amateur journalist on the future Cassiopeias suggestion, Rita Skeeter to give an exclusive.

He strode into the ministry with purpose. He was joined by Frank on his way. He too would present with him. After all, he was in the know.

On their way, they were stopped by a lot of people asking about his elder brother. The news about Siriuss incineration had been leaked.

As soon as they came near the press corps, they stopped and signaled them to ask questions.

Journalist: Your brother has been arrested for betraying the Potters to You know who. What do you have to say about this?

Regulus: This is not possible. Why would a man put his own family in danger? Little Lilith was his daughter. He would never put her in danger.

Journalist: Dont you think that calling them family and daughter is a bit of stretch? Friends and goddaughter would be more appropriate.

Frank: No it is not. Sirius was in a triad relationship with James and Lily. They hid it because of his mother. They were his spouses and Lilith was his daughter. He would never do this.

Shock rang through the atrium. No one had ever expected this. People had been quick to blame Sirius for all this, but now they started questioning themselves.

Regulus: He was never the secret keeper. It was Peter Pettigew. We know this because James and Lily had themselves told us. We were closer to each other more than anyone knew. Lilith and James were members of the Black family by blood and Lily by bonding. We value our family above all. There has been a grave miscarriage of justice. Sirius should be with us, bringing up Lilith. She was to grow with my daughter and Franks son.

Journalist: He may not have been the secret keeper but he did kill Pettigew and those muggles. He needs to be punished for that.

Frank: I dont think that Pettigew is dead. There is no curse known that can obliterate the complete body and leave just a finger. That is suspicious. Regulus and I have decided to look for him. And we will find him, I assure you.

With that they decided to move away. But it seemed fate would not have it. For the great Dumbledore was coming their way.

My boy, I could not help but overhear what you said about Peter being alive. You are grieving right now. So you are getting delusional. And we should not tarnish a dead mans memory. I know it is hard to believe that that your brother and friend betrayed your friends like that, but sometimes the dark lures you to do its bidding. Dumbledore said in his grandfatherly way.

Regulus sneered at him was about to say something, but Frank stopped him. He realized that even if his companions name had changed, his personality had not and he could still be impulsive. So not taking chances, he answered.

Headmaster, it seems you did not hear us completely. Sirius was not just James and Lilys friend, he was their Lord Husband. he was Liliths father. He would never betray them.

Dumbledore was gobsmacked. How come did he not know? Such an important thing. Had Severus known? No. He would have. Now what to do?

Before he could say anything, the other two started leaving.

But Regulus turned back and said- Dumbledore, even if my brother has committed any crime, Lilith is still mine and Severuss blood adopted daughter and Frank and Alices goddaughter. Dumbledore banged the paper on the table in fury.

He said in a grave voice- If Peter is actually alive and Regulus and Frank catch him, we will have to sacrifice Sirius for the greater good.

All of them agreed.

Behind him, the portrait of Phineas Nigellus Black left his frame to inform his descendants about the old coots plans.
