CHAPTER 4: Schoolmates

I've had a sleepless night but I'd have no choice but to get myself out of the bed and get ready for school.

When I finished preparing, I go downstairs for breakfast. We all eat together before leaving the house except for our grandparents.

Grandpa and Dad holding a newspaper, Grandma sipping on his tea and my... cousin was holding a book with her serious looking face.

My gaze fell on her for a few moments, I think she felt it that's why she turned her head on me and when she saw it's me, she examine my face but then, I saw her eyes slowly lowering down to my lips. My blood immediately rises through my neck up to my ears and cheeks when I remembered how she... kissed me last night.

When she saw me reddedn like a tomato, I saw her lips curled up before blocking the book she was reading on her face.

Mother suddenly appeared and saw me redden.

"Oh son, are you okay? Why are you so red? Are you feeling unwell?" She immediately asked with her worried look.

"N-no Mom, I'm fine." I immediately said while waving my hands in panocked before lowering my head.

Food arrived and we started eating already.

When the breakfast was about to finished, my cousin—Aria, speak.

"Grandpa, I have something to tell you." she said before putting her utensils down.

Grandpa stop on his putting the food on his mouth before looking at her and putting his utensils down.

"What is it?" he came back to his serious expression when it comes to her.

I don't know why but he always takes her serious in every matter.

"I want to accelerate grade level." she said befre drinking her water.

I can see Grandpa being happy about it.

"It's good that you've already considered it. I've been wanting you to accelerate. You can accelerated up to 1st year college, just passed the exam they'll give you."

He was about to call Dave—he's right hand, when Aria spoke again.

"I only want to accelerate for 3 years."

I don't know what to react to their conversation. Even my parents and some maids who heard to coversation of the two was shocked.

Even though they all know that Aria was smart, they didn't expect it to be this high that she can skip for a grade level. She's just 15 years old, why would Grandpa want to accelerate to college?

I, a 18 year old was still on 12th grade. If she accelerated that much, I hope she can still cope up with all the things she'll skipped. My head was aching just by hearing their conversation.

I just fixed my eyegalsses before drinking my water to calm myself down.

Grandpa's forehead on what she said, "You want to accelerate to 12th grade? Why the need to stop there when you can just go straight to college?"

Her expression didn't change even though she knows that Grandpa was annoyed, "I still want to enjoy my highschool life even just for a year."

Grandpa slammed his hand on the table in anger and shouted, "Why the need to—"

She immediately stand up and interrupted what was Grandpa was about to say.

"I never disobey you and keep on learning every little thing you want me to learn that I never enjoy my childhood. We have an agreement Grandpa, don't forget about it." she said before leaving.

Everyone was silent and scared because of what happened. I slowly looked at Grandpa who looks like he wants to burst in anger.

She's the only one who speak like that to him and I know he'll fell embarrassed to get speak at like that when he's an elder and leader at the house.

I'm scared for her. I hope she won't get punished.

I know why Grandpa wants me to accelerate. He wants me to manage the company for him. I know he's been wanting to retired but because of the dead of my 1st Uncle, he planned not to retired and continue to manage it. I know that 1st Uncle is his favorite son and he knows his capability to manage it but since he's gone, he don't want to give it to his other son. Well except for my Dad, but my Dad already take the another path ever since before so he's out of the choices.

I've been wanting to accelerate to the same grade level and section as him, hoping to see him more and be with him more. That's all my reason for accelerating. Even though I know, It'll be a little hard for me because Grandpa will add the more workload for me.

I was busy for a few days studying and preparing before taking the exam. And in a week, the results came and I passed it. For the very first time, I became happy for passing an exam even though I never tried failing.

"Son, you and Aria should go to school together starting today since you guys are already on the same grade level." Uncle Joe said while we were eating breakfast.

I saw Irvine's hesitation before nodding.

"Yes, I hope you too will be classmates. By the way, I still haven't congratulated you for passing the exam. Congrats Aria!" Aunt Sylvia said while giggling.

I nod and said, "Thanks, Aunt."
