Here are the screenshots of the announcement.
There is just... so much wrong with this.We have already established that the Soviet Union did not force huge amounts of pregnant people to clean Chernobyl and then force them to get abortions.
I never claimed that you were biased towards abortion.
Even though my argument was nowhere near perfect, as I did not explain it all that well I claimed that you were biased in your presentation of information.I based this on what I expressed earlier, with biases.
I was fighting for you to provide me an example of how the abortions would not have improved the quality of life, health wise, of those affected.
Now I am fighting for the truth.
For the first thing I said, (which I am reputting here for a reminder)
This is a critique.
I was not trying to be rude in any way shape or form, but merely to give you a suggestion. I understand, however, that this is what is known as, "kinda a dick move".
I apologize for that, but not for my response to your response-Which I believe was perfectly reasonable. I did not ask you to change perspective.
You did not state, in the book, that these were your headcannons.
You do not have to expressly state something for it to be interpreted that way- after all, that is the joy of language, is it not?
Now, I understand where you were coming from with this, but it was executed terribly and is a but confusing to read.
To Cecelia's response-
You can see now that these are two completely separate issues, and that they should not be mixed, as they have varying levels of severity.
And a little nitpicky thing- your "if the Soviet union wanted more people, not less- then why did they kill them" argument reads exactly like
"Well if you want more money you just gotta pull yourself up by the bootstraps."
This is just something I noticed, not that it is really important.
To your sibling's response-
They were not tricked into aborting their babies because they were told they would be born with birth defects.
That was factual at the time, and so people believed it. As science races ahead, we understand more things that we did not understand before, and therefore we can make more informed choices on such matters.
I have looked up the numbers you have put up, and came across an article that you may have possibly come across as well.
If you actually look at the article, (which does not list any sources),
It says that thousands of women requested abortions.Even an unreliable source like this one are relaying the same information that I am giving to you.
And the mental health section of that chapter is also worded horribly. It is so bad that I do not feel the need to comment on it, as it speaks for itself.
Unintentional Misinformation is the cause of all of these unnecessary abortions, and it is also the cause for this callout book.
If you stop and reconsider your thoughts and actions, then an encounter like this is unlikely to happen again.
Remember to always check your sources for verifiable links and sources, remember and respect your bias, and remember to be reasonable when interacting online.
It is your duty, as a person with a large platform to not spread misinformation, and if you do, apologize and revise it.
Thank you, and have a good day.
- sincerely, funnyhowthatworks
