I wake up to the sound of my mother's loud music which she usually cleans to. Something seems off. I check the time on my phone. It's barely 8:00am which is not too early except for the fact that we stayed up late watching movies and it's a Saturday. I get out of bed and walk to the kitchen. Yeah there's something really wrong alright. I see my mother in a dress wiping the kitchen counters. Wait is she wearing makeup?
She never wears makeup or dresses for that matter. I've only seen her wear jeans and T-shirts.

I rub my eyes and ask "Mom, what's going on?"

She gets a bit startled and looks over at me. She then looks me up and down and says "A friend is coming over go take a shower and put on some nice clothes. I don't want her thinking I raised my daughter to be a slob. Put some makeup on as well."

"Wow...gee thanks mom."

I was about to say something else when we heard a knock on the door. My mother looks at her watch and says "Crap!".
She looks over at me and says "Go hide don't let her see you like that."

My mother pretty much runs to the door fixing her hair on the way.

I have never seen her act like this. She's never tried to impress her friends before. Is this a guy friend? I followed my mother to the door to see who this person making my mother act crazy was. I watched from the living room as my mother opened the door.

My jaw dropped when I saw the most beautiful woman I've ever seen.
She had shoulder length blonde wavy hair and the most gorgeous looking light blue eyes. She was wearing a soft white long sleeve shirt with a silk scarf tied loosely around her neck, high waist black business pants and black heels. She was tall even without heels I'm sure.

I couldn't stop staring at her. She greets my mother and suddenly she looks over at me. She's walks towards me with her arm stretched out for me to shake.

The weirdest sound came out of my mouth as I ran to my room. As quickly as possible I grabbed my towel and ran to the bathroom to take a shower. I didn't want to take too long but I made sure to scrub and clean all over. After the shower I struggled to find something to put on. Most of my clothes were now on top of my bed. Suddenly I spot a cute sundress. I cross my fingers and hope it still fits as I've gained some weight. I put it on and it still fits, well it's a bit tight. I turn to make sure I don't look like a over stuffed sausage in it. It's seem fine I just probably shouldn't sit down. I grab some matching sandals and I do my hair. Remembering my mother's words I put on a little makeup. I take one last look in the mirror then take a deep breath and walk out of my room.

I find my mother alone in the kitchen. I look around but I can't see the gorgeous woman.
Did I take too long?
We have an island kitchen and my mother is leaning against the counters on the wall while looking below the sink. I'm on the other side of the island counters where the breakfast bar is.

"Did she leave?" I asked my mom.

"Huh?" she responds.

"You know, that beautiful supermodel that came through the door. Is she gone?"

Suddenly my mom's friend pops her head up from underneath the sink and says
"There's a supermodel here? Where?"

I cover my face with my hands.

"....Wait you can't possibly be talking about me right?"

I can feel my face burn from how red it's turning.

"I think it works now. Try it."

Wait. I peek through my fingers. She did not just...

My mother switches on the garbage disposal. "It works! I can't thank you enough."

Did my mother really make this stunning princess fix our garbage disposal?

"Yay! I'm glad." says my Mom's friend and then stands up.

She has taken off her white shirt and is now only wearing a white satin spaghetti strap tank top. I have to stop myself from drooling.
She washes her hands and then walks over to me. Offering her hand for me to shake.

"You aren't going to run from me this time, are you?"

I just shake my head. I'm so nervous.

She shakes my hand and says "Amanda right?"

I nod.

"I'm not sure if you recognize me? My name is Michelle."

"Oh, I didn't know that we had met before."

"It's been a while."

I hold her hand for longer than usual without realizing.
