Two weeks went by in a complete blur. I was constantly in class, training, or doing homework. Unfortunately, I didn't learn anything new about my ability from John's classes, but I became really good friends with C, Lure, and Turk. I learned that they were mostly considered outcasts because of their looks, but they were funny, and I liked hanging out with them. John's training classes were difficult, but after only a few days I had made huge physical progress. I was sore most of the time and it had become normal for me. From all of the soreness I had grown stronger and good at hand to hand combat. I looked into the mirror, and I didn't see the same scared teenager girl anymore. I could almost keep up with the boys who had been training for years. I couldn't help but assume that my quick progress was due to my elf blood. The only thing I knew about my ability was that I could speak telepathically, and the pain was starting to slowly get worse. The pain happened more frequently, and it was lasting for longer periods of time. It was starting to scare me, but I decided to put it in out of my mind. I became best friends with Thalia and Kimberly, and even Hue started to become tolerable. Grey walked me to classes and I enjoyed his company, but the flirting glances Kase and I shared were the best. I thought Grey and I could be awesome friends, but I wasn't sure I liked him the same way he liked me. I didn't have the guts to tell him, so I kept it a secret. I didn't give him a chance to ask me on a date and made sure our conversations stayed on easy topics. My grandmother had left on a trip and hadn't come back yet. I was starting to miss her, and even more I was starting to miss my mother. I had so much to say to her, and I still had the rest of the summer before I could talk to her. I decided to try and focus on the task at hand to distract myself from thoughts of her. I wondered if I should start going to this school permanently, and I was starting to think of this place as home. I had amazing friends, and I finally found a place where I can embrace the person inside me, one I had never known existed before. Maybe I would stay here after all, the only thing stopping me was my family back in Florida. Well, mostly just my mom and Reid, but I missed them so much.

It was about two in the morning and I was wondering the halls because I couldn't sleep. I had just finished a ton of homework that I ditched earlier in favor of a dorm party with Thalia and Kimberly. My mind was still spinning like crazy and I couldn't shut it off. I stopped at a huge window over-looking the beautiful castle gardens, and I could see little twinkling lights floating. I thought of Fayla and I touched my necklace that was tucked under my shirt. I suddenly wished I could see more of this other realm. The only thing I had been able to see were this castle and few abilities of other students. I was learning so much about this new world, and I wanted to see more of it. I wanted to actually witness some of the things I had learned about. When could I go out into this realm and see all these things the other kids talked about. "Can't sleep?" I turned to find Kase smiling at me, and I gave him a small smile back. "I can't sleep when I do homework really late." I said as I turned back to the window. "Same" he said and he walked over to me. Our arms touched lightly. "It's really beautiful isn't it?" he said gesturing to the gardens. I smiled, "I think it's the most beautiful part of the whole school." I said, and he nodded. I looked at him and he looked over at me and we smiled caught in our stare. He leaned forward, and then suddenly his eyes became unfocused. When they came back into focus a frightened look came over his face. "Oh no" he said under his breath and looked at me with fear. "How did they know you were here? You need to leave." he said. I gave him a confused look, "What? Why?" I asked. He looked around suddenly in extreme panic. He was starting to scare me. What was going on? "I can see short spurts of the future! You need to go!" he said, and pushed my arm. "Where?" I asked. His eyes became unfocused again, the huge glass window shattered and I fell to the ground. "Esme, run!" Kase yelled. This time I didn't question him. I got up as quick as I could and started sprinting at full speed down the large hallway. I heard yelling behind me, and I felt a cut on my face from the glass. I blocked it all out and kept running at full speed. I was still wearing my school clothes, which was my favorite black jeans, a loose blue shirt, and boots, my favorite boots and I was thankful that I wore them all the time because I could run very easily in them. I was also thankful for John's training because I could run way faster, and my endurance had gotten very good. I whipped around a corner, and right into someone's arms. "Hello there, running form something?" The guy asked. When I looked up, I jumped back and let out a small scream. The guy had smeared black paint on his face, and was wearing armor like clothes. He looked like a savage, and I was guessing he was the one who broke the window. I turned in the opposite direction and took off running as fast as I could. I turned another corner, and there was a guy in similar clothing with a black beard and huge gun. He also had black paint smudged across his face. He gave me an evil look, and my heart started to hammer. I turned around, and the first guy was right behind me. "Sorry to come at such a bad time, but we need you to come with us" said the guy with the gun. I was full of adrenaline and panic. I looked around for something to help me, and I saw a bench in the hallway. "You sure are a beauty, shame that we have to dispose of you." said the first guy. I jumped behind the bench. "Sorry to tell you this, but I don't think this bench is going to protect you." said the guy with the gun. I threw a hard punch nailing the first guy right in the nose. The other guy ran after me, and I sprinted in the opposite direction. I was able to lose him after a few confusing turns, but I knew he would find me eventually. I turned another corner, and I screamed as I ran smack into someone's chest. I jumped back about to punch. "Whoa, Esme! It's me!" the person yelled and my eyes focused enough to see C holding his hands up in a surrender motion. I let out a relieved breath. "What the crap is going on!" he demanded. I knew I didn't have to say a word. "Oh, dang, yeah you really should run." he said. I threw my hands up. "Where!" I demanded. He thought about it for a minute. "The elfish kingdom! You should go there!" he said. He grabbed my hand and took off running. I wondered how he could possibly know his surrounding so well without having vision. "I can sense things around me and I use familiar energy waves as land marks." he said. I had known him for a while now, but I could never get used to him hearing my every thought. He stopped at a dorm door. "What are we doing here?" I asked. He held up a hand. He opened the door and walked in and flipped on the lights. There were two beds like my dorm except there were two boys asleep in them, and I turned away. "What are we doing here?" I asked more forcefully. He completely ignored me. The two boys both opened their eyes, and were startled to see us. "C, what the Heck!" said the boy closest. He saw me and he covered his bare chest. I turned red and looked away. "Felix, I need you to contact an elf." he said. Felix rubbed his eyes, "Why the crap at two in the morning?" he asked, clearly not happy with C. "Esme is in danger and the only place she will be safe is in the elfish kingdom, there are Styx in the castle." he said. When Felix heard the word, Styx, he jumped up. "What! Why?" he was really freaked out. C waved a dismissive hand, "Just do it!" he said. Felix held up both his hands, "Okay, okay" he said. He closed his eyes and rubbed his temples. Then his eyes flashed open. "She'll be here any minuet." he said. C let out a relieved breath. He grabbed my hand and led me out of the room. I looked back and Felix gave me a small wave. I gave him an appreciative smile before C dragged me away. "Can he contact people?" I asked. C gave me an irritated noise, "Yes, he can speak telepathically to anyone he has ever met. He was brought to the elfish kingdom when he was stabbed and almost died. Elves have amazing medicine." he said. I had a million questions after he said that, but I kept them to myself.
