"It’s a trip, not a ‘farewell forever!’" I explained as I threw my duffle bag onto the couch. "Honey, I don’t want you traveling with 5 guys you met at work!" Mom exclaimed. "Mom! I’m 17 now! I’ve known them for 3 years! Harry, Liam, Niall, Zayn and Louis!" I argued. "Fine, I’ll talk it over with your father." Mom agreed.
"I can go?" I confirmed later that afternoon. "Yes." Mom huffed. "Omigod! I can’t believe it! I’m calling Zayn!" I shouted whilst jumping over the couch and grabbing the cordless phone. "Tomorrow? 5? Airport? Okay! Hugs!" I said into the phone. I bolted up the carpeted stairs and pulled my suitcase from under my bed. "Undergarments, deoderant, four sweatshirts, 2 sweaters, 2 pairs of jeans, 7 pairs of shorts, 5 jean, 2 cotton, socks, t-shirts, tank tops and sunscreen." I thought the list of things I needed aloud. "Airport, here I come."
The next morning I woke up bright and early, 6:00 to be exact. I’m usually the sleeping in type of gal, but not today, I was off to California with 5 of my favorite people! I tiptoed down the stairs and to my surprise my mom and dad were up. "We made you some, ‘we’ll miss you’ pancakes." Dad said, motioning to a stack of pancakes with bananas, apples, chocolate chips, blueberries and raspberries in them. "Deluxe, super, fruity, chocolate extreme pancakes? You haven’t made me these since I was seven." I told my parents, I couldn’t help but smile. This breakfast was my favorite food as a kid, I invented them when I attempted to make Mother’s Day brunch for Mom when I was 4. They were good for a 4 year old, Dad helped me with the stove, but I did everything else myself. "Well, we don’t want you to...Forget us." Mom whimpered as some tears escaped her eyes. "I love you." I gushed as I dug into the pancakes.
