Somewhere between love and hate lies confusion, misunderstanding and desperate hope."
― Shannon L. Alder
Boisterous laughter filled the room, almost making the walls rattle. The owner, a pretty red-head with sun-kissed skin, knocked on the small side-table to his side, making the exotic blonde seated in front of him wince at the sound, still, a small smile could be seen in his lips.
It had taken them some weeks to reach their current point, a lot of hard work from Katsuki's part to win the respect of the pretty red-head.
At first, Katsuki had been reluctant to be near Kirishima, having in mind his first encounter had involved his teeth piercing skin. He hadn't known how the red-head would react after that, so he had tried to avoid the other boy, resulting in almost getting his door broken because Kirishima did want to talk.
Their hide-and-seek plays had been exchanged in favor of small chats in retired streets, which soon evolved into Kirishima crashing in his lovely home.
They never went to Kirishima's house, and even if the blonde wanted to see the cottage that the red-head was always speaking about, he could understand why the other boy might not want him there.
It didn't have anything to do with the myth that said that vampires could only enter your house if you gave them permission, because that was nonsense. There wasn't any force that made them unable to enter other people houses, in fact, their speed made them highly successful thieves.
If their Sire had taught them well, vampires would only enter your house if you gave them permission because they were polite, it was as simple as that.
No, the reason as to why Katsuki suspected Kirishima didn't want him in his house was because he probably wanted to keep him in cheek. After all, the blonde had already bitten him.
And Katsuki was glad that the other boy was a creature too, because that reduced the risk of Kirishima becoming a vampire. Creature blood had a natural protection against their venom so they would not be two kinds of creatures at the same time, and even if Katsuki couldn't exactly pinpoint what type Kirishima was, he was happy that his venom didn't affect him.
"... and that's how it went" the red-head's voice brought him back to the world, "Do you have any funny stories? Surely you do, right? You are not exactly young."
The have been exchanging stories for the past days, and Katsuki regretted telling Kirishima how old he was, for now he had to fight the full power of puppy-eyes anytime the red-head wanted to know something about him.
'Dammit' cursed Katsuki in him mind.
"You know we can't exactly eat normal food, vampires I mean" started the blond with a sigh, "when my Sire told me, I couldn't f- believe it", stumbling over the curse word, he continued, "I tried to eat spicy food, the last dish my mom had cooked before I was turned, the only food she wouldn't let the cooks make. I should have noticed it immediately, because the smell was too strong for my nose, but apparently, I didn't mind. When I tried to swallow it... it was a mix between disgusting and a burn that covered my whole mouth. I spent the next two days sick in bed, barely moving."
The small chuckle that Katsuki added at the end was the clue Kirishima needed to start laughing as well. Even if a bit sad, the moment had been pretty comical now that he put his mind into it, and making the red-head laugh was just a plus in his book.
However, laugh died soon, and the watched in silence as the sky changed colors like a snake shedding its skin, the joyful blues being embraced by orange hues and soon being replaced by the indigo blue that accompanied the night.
