"A bedroom?!" Varian said. It was a comfortable looking bed with a light purple blanket draped messily over the bed.
There wasn't much else in the room but a bedside table with an empty plate of food and an empty glass of water.
Ruddiger leaped off of Varian shoulder and snuggled up in the bed.
"I don't understand, why would there be a bed in here!?" Varian said confused. He walked over to the bedside table.
"Hmm the food and water seem to be freshly eaten, it's surprising how well the food seems to have been preserved." Varian muttered to himself.
Ruddiger was curled up in the bed until the raccoon's caught something under the covers. It was a piece of paper with some writing on it.
Varian was still studying the empty plate when he turned to Ruddiger chirping at him loudly.
"What is it Ruddiger?" Varian asked. Ruddiger lifted up the paper in his tiny paws.
"Hmm what's this?" Varian said, taking the paper. Varian held the paper with both is hands and started reading the message that was written on it.
Dear Astra,
Astra? Varian thought, Who is that?
If you are reading this, it's 2,000 years in the future. I know you are probably confused, so let me explain to you.
Is Astra a time traveler or something? Varian wondered.
Your injury put you in a coma. Due to the magical properties if the injury you didn't physically age, but the world has.
Oh that makes more sense. I wonder what injury they are referring to? Varian asked himself.
Don't be afraid. I have made a safe place for you near one of my machines. There is preserved food and water under the bedside table. Once you leave and go try and get help in the outside world, don't worry. You are in Corana, one of the kindest kingdoms in the world. I'm positive someone will help you.
I wonder if Astra is out in Corana now, or if she is even still alive... Varian thought.
Also, I left an eyepatch on your eye. Whatever you do, don't remove it. I predicted that once you regained consciousness, your injured eye would begin to drip and decay everything, imprisoning everyone in stone. You may notice your eye has gone pitch black and you have lost your vision. Just keep your eyepatch on and you'll be safe.
Decay and imprison everyone in stone? What kind of injury is this? I hope if Astra is in Corana she keeps her eyepatch on! Varian said to himself in his head.
Stay safe,
-an old friend of your mother.
"Hmm this is weird Ruddiger. If this person, Astra, is really out there, it could be dangerous for Corana. But her mother did know Demanitus, so I bet she's a good person." Varian said.
Ruddiger chirped in agreement.
"I'm going to head back home to run some experiments on this, maybe find some hidden message." Varian said, scanning the paper over again with his.""knowing Demanitus, this probably has something more to it."
Ruddiger trailed after him, but then stopped at the entrance to look back at the empty plates. Then they closed the door.
Varian walked through the castle towards the door. More people were awake now, and maids had to try not to bump into him as he read over the letter for the millionth time.
Varian muttered the letter under his breath while people glared at him for taking up practically the whole hallway.
Varian didn't even notice when he ran into the queen.
"Watch where your going Varian!" Rapunzle said. Varian looked at Rapunzle, who smiled sweetly down at him.
"Oh hi Rapunzle! I'm sorry I'm just so excited! I figured out what's in that star vault!" Varian said. Rapunzle looked very excited now and smiled a wide smile.
"Really?! What's in there!" Rapunzle said. Varian handed her the paper.
"I found this in there. It was a bedroom, and I think it was for a girl named Astra who was in a magically induced coma." Varian explained to Rapunzle.
Rapunzle looked at the paper and her eyes widened.
"Wow. I hope Astra is ok, who ever she is." Rapunzle said.
"I hope she has an eyepatch on!" Varian said. Rapunzle looked very worried.
"Varian, if her eye can decay anything...would an eyepatch really work?" Rapunzle said. Varian's heart skipped a beat. He was so excited he had looked over that possibility.
"Well- I don't know. Demanitus could have engineered something that did work..." Varian said nervously "plus we don't even know if Astra is even alive still."
Rapunzle looked worried but nodded. "I trust your judgment. Just look into it for me, ok?" Rapunzle said. Varian nodded.
"I'm going to go analyze the document in my lab." Varian said walking out the door. Rapunzle looked very nervous still, but waved goodbye.
"I'll let you know the results!" Varian yelled as he and Ruddiger walked back home.
Rapunzle sighed. The handmaiden Faith walked up next to her holding a laundry basket.
"What's wrong your majesty?" Faith asked her. Rapunzle sighed again.
"I just have a bad feeling about this. I have a feeling something is going to go terribly wrong." Rapunzle said. Faith looked at the queen and smiled.
"I'm sure everything will be fine your majesty!" Faith said. Rapunzle smiled just a tiny bit at the corner of her mouth.
"Yeah your right. Everything will be fine."
