Day 1825

Exactly 5 years after everyone left. Or has it been 1826, hard to tell. But nevertheless, I'm celebrating. I've been alive this long and might as well do something fun. I'm going to try an old recipe from the first world war. Isn't that crazy! It uses beans and flour. I found a can of beans a couple of months back. I was so excited I would have eaten right then and there but I had enough food to last until now.

I dump the can of beans in a pot and slowly pour in the flour. It thickens up and I put it in my makeshift oven. I leave my hut I've called home for 3 years. And breathe.

It's been so long since I've seen another person. My friend Katie went on one of the ships. She was always the smart one, for as long as I remember she wanted to go to space. She got that wish.

I, however, was a journalist. I joined the school newspaper when I was in fifth grade. It was the best decision I've ever made except one.

No, I can't talk about that. I shake my head. And before I can return back to my home. Something shoots across the sky.

They've come back. That must be tem. I run and run as fast as I can. I don't know how far it is but I don't care. They've come back, why? did something go wrong? I don't care

I run like a cheetah chasing its prey. Wait. I stop. Could this really be them? No. But whatever it is, I need to check it out. I'm already this far.

Hopefully this would be an anniversary gift for me. Even though my bean cake will melt.

I continue or at least try, how did I make it this far? My knees buckle and my legs ache. The sickness has eaten through me like many before. I Get up and continue walking.

                                                                                       ~

By the time I get to the thing the sun is setting. I know it's the thing because it doesn't blend it at all. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It's definitely a ship and its glowing so much it's starting to hurt my eyes. And the glowing makes the ship look like it's breathing. It reminds me of the sun.

I hear voices clear as day. I hide behind a dead tree. facing away from the ship. Even though I can hear them clear as day and can't understand a single word. Theories rush in and out of my head. It's going to give me a headache.

"Hey get over here!" a man yells. I don't move or even breathe. Footsteps getting close to my hiding spot.

"Hey!" The man grabs me. I free myself and run. My breathing thickens and turns into a pant. My legs are heavy but they glide.

Then, suddenly my face eats dirt. I quickly got up. My body aches and my knees and elbows are scratched. The man grabs me. I scream as hard as I can even with my hoarse voice. He makes me kneel. I kept screaming as he put my hands in cuffs. He yells something in a language i don't understand and another man appears in front of me.

Except this is no man he glows with a white light like he's the sun. He's in armor that shimmers just like when I tried to peralsenet powered to my face. I keep trying to push off the man but I stop when the man stabs me with something sharp in my neck.

I yelp, the man lets go of me. I stumble away but I fall. My vision blurs and I slip into unconsciousness.
