THUMP... THUMP...
THUMP... THUMP...
THUMP... THUMP...
I can't open my eyes...
I can't feel my arms...
Neither my legs nor my whole body...
Everything was just... numb.
It felt as though all of my senses have been shut down and now I'm as good as a deficient corpse floating in a watery grave.
The air has been sucked out of my lungs and it was very painful. For a while, I fought for my life but slowly, everything within me was being filled by the ocean and I gave up.
The panic that once invaded my mind slowly dissipated and was soon replaced by a quiet and consistent hum of the waves that soothed me.
When all of a sudden, I felt a feathery touch like death's slender fingers itself caressing the sides of my face.
Is this it? Am I going to die now? Is he finally going to take me?
I never thought that death could be this physical or maybe I'm being delusional during my last moments?
Until out of the blue, I can once again miraculously feel my burning throat and my weak palpitating heart. Precious air entered through my cold lips then down to my lungs.
Someone, yes, someone was giving me air through... a kiss?
How can that be? Unless... someone came and saved me?
Slowly, I urged my eyes to open. Everything was a complete blur. I can't see anything clearly except the dark silhouette of my savior.
Who is this person? Why did he save me? Thoughts like these flooded my mind. Then abruptly, I felt my body being pulled to the surface and the sound of someone's voice calling my name.
"Rosalie!" I scowled at the loud voice booming in my ear drums.
"Rosalie!" There it goes again. Whoever this person is, he or she definitely needs to shut up. My head is starting to ache.
"Wake up! Rosalie!"
Ignore.
"Fuck! Rosalie, wake up!"
Okay. This person is definitely screaming now. Why do I have to wake up now? It's so good to-
"Rosalie!"
All right. All right.
Frustration got the best of me so I opened my eyes unwillingly and a distraught Daniele greeted me. I grunted as I try to fix myself into a sitting position.
Why am in a sofa? I frowned at the sight of it then the realization that I have slept at Daniele's office and had forgotten to go back to the bedroom last night hit me so fast, my cheeks started to burn scarlet.
"Sorry, I-" I began to explain but was interrupted by Daniele suddenly pulling me into an embrace. It was so abrupt that I actually crashed into his body as he wrapped his arms around me.
"I thought you'd never open your eyes again." He whispered on my neck.
I was surprised and his sudden action rendered me struggling for words.
"What do you mean? I was sleeping." I gave a small nervous laugh.
Daniele let go of me and looked at me with so much intensity I almost forgot to breathe.
"You were screaming for help." He said blankly.
My brows scrunched together, not believing what he had just said. "I was?"
