It took us a day to get back to the Council. That day was filled with tension among the group.

I still was processing what had happened the night before.

Rant was gone. My daggers were gone. Darin had come back to us. And Zant had made that fateful choice.

A great conflict was most likely a few days away. With the dark elves in possession of the crystals, it was only a matter of time before they summoned lord Dransid.

The council soon became visible. Yet something was wrong. As we got closer and closer. Instead of feeling weak. I felt stronger. As if the council had started to use dark magic instead of light magic.

Raziel ran down to the steps of the council.

The gates had been blasted open and the ground was covered in a black mist.

"Hello?" said Raziel. "Is anyone here?"

We all walked up to the top of the council.. The doors creaked open and we all entered the council meeting room.

Raziel gasped as she entered the room.

I realized what the horror she had reacted to was.

On the thrones of each queen. Lay each head. The room was surrounded by a pool of blood.

"a massacre." I said. "They must have come back with full force after we left."

Raziel fell to her knees. Sobbing in front of the thrones

Her home, her people, her family. All massacred in the blink of an eye.

Suddenly, the room was filled with a beautiful glowing light.

I knew that light, and it was the thing I wanted to see more than anything right now.

Out of a glowing portal stepped Ranthris.

I looked at the rest of the group. We all smiled at the reaction to seeing the ancient goddess. Even Zant gave a wide smirk.

She floated over to Raziel and brushed the side of her red hair.

"Do not fret, my child." she said. Her voice echoed around the room.

Raziel stood up and bowed to Ranthris.

"Ohhh." no need, she said. "I should be bowing to you all."

Then a dozen other portals opened up and outsteped the people of the void. All the gnome Dragons and wacky creatures that inhabited the dark place. All stepped into the light world alongside Ranthris.

We all smiled and I looked at my fellow heroes.

I stepped forward into the middle of the room.

"Hello warriors of the void. The dark elves and the Unversed have been destroying our lives for as long as we have been alive. So tomorrow, we take back our freedom!" I yelled, raising my fist into the air.

"Yeeeaaaah!!!" yelled the warriors. Everyone raising their weapons in a rallying chant.

The next few hours were spent in prep for the coming battle.

At dawn the next day we would push an assault on the kingdom of Shallowhelm and would take back our freedom.

I walked around the council checking in on some of the warriors making sure that the preparations were ready.

When I first came to the light world. I was no more than just a casual warrior. Now I was leading an army against the most deadly group of magic users in the world.
