After weaving your way through the crowd, you sneak around the building and pop up behind Camilo, your small hands pressed against his eyes "guess who?"
"Is that you, tio Bruno?"
"No," you giggled "it's me."
"I knew it was you," he said, turning around and scooping you in his arms.
"Did you have a good day?" You questioned after he dropped you on the ground.
His wide smile faltered a bit, "Uhh, y-yeah it was good" He was unsure.
"No, you didn't," you sigh "so tell me, what happened, my friend? We can walk and talk. Come on"
"No, I don't think you wanna hear it." he broke his gaze as he look down at your hands playing with the ruffle on your dress.
"Yes, I do, Camilo." You said sweetly " You're my best friend, I care about everything you say." He smiled at you "I mean hey, even if you don't wanna share, and you just need a hug, I'm here"
"I think I need both."
"well, that's why I'm here," you shrugged. Your arms spread out as you gladly took him in "What's the matter?"
"I just need an __ hug," he shrugged
"No you don't," his face dropped, you seemed to know everything, he wonders how you do it "something else is troubling you,"
"it's nothing serious, I promise."
"serious or not I take my duty as your hero very serious" you joked.
"It's so lonely, I just don't feel enjoyment being there anymore."
"Well, I can't be there every day holding your hand," you say, taking his hand in yours, giving it a gentle squeeze. "But, how about we make a deal? if you go to school every day ill pick you up, and I don't really have any other friends, so I'm with you every weekend anyways." You could always sense peoples emotions, you considered it your 'gift' but, were hopeless at sensing Camilo's feelings towards you. Despite the minor flirting, and people pointing it out, you found a way to remain oblivious.
"But, I need to be with you like, every day, hour, the minute i wanna be with you always." He whined like a child.
"That would be pretty fun, 'Millo. not to mention unrealistic." you laughed, "anyways we better get you home"

"So ill see you tomorrow."
"Wait, __. Would you like to stay for dinner?"
"Would you like to stay forever?" Pepa called out while helping set the table.
Camilo ignored his mother, "before I left this morning, Abuella was talking about a new enchilada recipe she was going to try tonight, I know they're your favourite!"
"I would love to stay for dinner, and forever, tia Pepa" you called out.
"Ahh, I told you, this is the night, your going to ask her." Pepa beams.
"Just friends, Mami," Camilo says through clenched teeth.
"clear skies, clear skies," Pepa repeats before walking off.
"ask me, what did you want to ask?"
"Uhh, nothing," Camilo reply awkwardly.
"Hey ___," Mirabell calls out from the top of the stairs.
"Hey, Miraboo(nickname)!! Mirabel runs down the stairs and greets you with a hug,
"Are you staying for dinner?" you nod in response "Great, you can sit next to me."
"Hello, beautiful," Isabella greeted as gracefully as ever, before springing up a bright bundle of daisies from her palm and giving them to you.
The Madrigals were amazing people. When you befriended Camilo, at age 12 he was reluctant to show you his family, he seemed to be sort of embarrassed, he thought you would see him differently if you found out. But you didn't see him as any less or more of a person. Even now when Camilo's around you, he still doesn't shapeshifter much, not because he is embarrassed but because shapeshifting is changing, and he likes being himself with you because it's real.
But the madrigals took you in the moment they met you.
