chapter two

"Morning" Sophia says perching on my bed as I wake up. "We got to be ready so we can get to the mess hall first.". "Ugh fine" I say in a drowsy tone. I get up and get into the shower for a while then brush my teeth quickly so I can do the new hairstyle i've been wanting to do. I go back into the bedroom and grab my outfit, some black shorts and a shirt with the words "Camp Oakwood" written on the front. I put my hair into two fishtail braids and start to put on some mascara.

I hear rustling the sheets.. Gio woke up. "Damn it!" I thought. I was trying to leave before he woke up. "Morning Leyli" He said in a tired voice "You know you don't have the privilege to call me that anymore" I said rolling my eyes. "Sorry.. Anyway how did you sleep?"
I ignore him pretending to be busy putting on my mascara.

He gets out of bed and sits next to me on the bench. He looks at me through the mirror nodding his head "Your a really beautiful girl Lelani." He gets up and goes to the bathroom.

"UGH WHY TF IS HE LIKE THIS" I pop on some lipgloss and head outside and meet Soph at the mess hall we "GIRL! THERES NO MORE GOOD FOOD!" I laugh and roll my eyes and grab two apples and hand her one.

We go back to the cabin and hang out until the counselors call us for the Summer Beginning Games.

"GUYS COME ON OUT FOR THE GAMES!"
The counselor yell.

I quickly slip on a swimsuit and run out to the yard.
Kids bussing out of their cabins lining up by cabin.

"Alright the first cabin, Fox please come up and do the first challenge.
"You have to rub around the sprinklers 3 times without slipping then throw the water ballon at the target as close as possible you have three tries.

Fox cabin goes and dose really well and almost hit the target perfectly.

Our team was next and I had to go first. I run around trying not to slip on the grass. It was extremely hard. I make it around the third time and run over to the water balloons. I grab the first water ballon and miss miserably. "Shit..". I hesitated to throw the next one . I hear footsteps from behind me, I feel a grip on my waist and arm
"Let me help you."
I turn around to see Gio holding my waits tighter as he guides my hand toward the target
*SPLASH*
He almost made it. I turn around. "Uh, thanks.."
I walk back to the line while everyone stare at me. Sophia gives me that up and down look "Girl that knee is not straight.".. "Shut up!" I say annoyed.
"Excuse me..but Eagle cabin your going to have to be disqualified for cheating during the round.. you will no longer be in the games for today.."

Me, Soph and, Brendon turn around and give Gio the side eye.
"Y'all gotta sit in the mess haul for the rest of the game." Alice says

We walk over to the mess hall and we all sit at a table I sit next to Soph and diagonal from Alex so I wouldn't have to look at him.

"Look im sorr-" he says quietly
"Save it!" I stick my hand infront of my face fed up with Gio"
"Altleast let me talk.. Would you guys mind?" gesturing Sophia and Brandon to go sit at another table. He walks over to the other side of the table and sits next to me. "Look..*sigh* you obviously know I'm not over you..It's been a year..but all I do is think about you, with your flowing black hair like a flowing black dress and
warm pumpkin toned skin. You smell like a fresh bea-"
"SAVE IT! IM DONE WITH THIS THIS STUPID POETIC GUY ACT! IM DONE.
I storm out the room to my cabin hating everything. I run into the bathroom and stay there scrolling through tiktok for a couple of hours and the sun starts to set.
