"God, what happened?" I whisper in a groggy voice
I look down see myself in a Marvel tee-shirt lying in my bunk. I get up and walk into the bathroom. I look in the mirror to see smudged eyeliner and lipgloss all over my face. I pull off the shirt and see my black dress and remember what had happen.
I walk out the bathroom embarrassed about the whole drunk video fiasco.
"Hey!" I said shaking Sophia.
She turns over slowly and sits up.
"What do you want?" She says with droopy eyes.
"I wanted to talk im really out of my head right now." I say.
"That's not my problem." She looks me up in down like I said something rude.
"Listen im being seri-"
"Listen Lelani, Im done with you. You put me in danger last night, and I don't want to be friends with someone who puts me in drama..we're over."
She looks at me with a serious face and pushes me off her bed.
"What the hell is wrong with you!" I say with tears building up in my eyes. "You can't be serious..What did I do?!"
"I asked Alice and she said I can switch cabins anytime because there is a lot of space in Rabbit cabin." She pans her eyes over to her empty side of the closet with her full suitcase next to it. She gives me a smirk and turns back over to got to bed.
My jaw is clenched and my throat feels like it's been stabbed. My eyes let go warm tears. I put on my hoodie. Slowly, I open the back window and crawl out of it. I start running . The smell of salt water covers the camp. I run out of the camp into the woods. I pass the abandon house into a road. I walk down the road and make it to a convince store.
I walk in and spot the man at the counter .
"Howdy" He says with a straight face.
I nod back and him.
I follow a sign to the drinks and I grab a bottle of Coke. I walk back to the counter and pay.
I walk out and sit down on the sidewalk.
"Hey..are you ok?"
I look up and see a externally tall boy who looks about my age. He has brown hazley skin and dark brown fluffy hair and long eyelashes and pretty eyes. He had a coke in his hand. He was also crying.
"Oh im fine..but are you ok?"
"Uh I guess" he says quietly."
"You need a hug" I say putting my hand on his arm.
"Yea.."
I rap my arms around his waist as he shoves his head into my shoulder.
"We're gonna be fine." I say. "How bout we have some fun?!" I say still in his embrace.
He lets go.
"Like what?" He says wiping the tears off his eyes
"Hmmm.. Oh let's see...I don't know" I think out loud.
"Hmm..maybe you would want to come to my treehouse." The boy says
"Uh"
"Sure" I say. "But I don't even know your name.." I say
"Oh yea.. im Gabriel, im 14. He says.
"Oh im Lelani. Im also 14" I say happily. "Ok so now that I know you kind of we can go!"
He grabs my hand and we head off to his house. I've never gone on a adventure with a stranger before. Little do I know he could be some type of crazy guy, but for some reason I trust him.
We run down the block to his house. It was covered by trees with his treehouse sticking out.
We walk through the gate that leads you to a vast foresty backyard. We get to the tree and climb up the latter. A nicely decorated room full of records a beanbag chair and snacks.
"Wow, this is really pretty" I say touching the walls of the house.
"Thanks!" he says grabbing a record and putting it on the record player.
A pretty instrumental starts playing.
"Ooo I like the way this sounds" I say
I sit down in the bean bag chair.
He sits next to me and starts playing the guitar.
"Wow that's nice" I say.
"Yea, my dad taught me..I love the guitar."
He says softly strumming to the music.
"Well your really good, this is lovely." I say "Definitely makes me feel better."
"Yea me to." He says with a chuckle.
The background music stops but he keep strumming softly. His hands moving up and down slowly like a angel wing. The tempo and melody of the song change. He slowly looks up into my eyes making straight eye contact. The rising sun comes through the window and shines through on us, illuminating our eyes.
He starts strumming my favorite song, Halley's Coment.
"How did you know I like this song?" I laugh
"Your phone case" He pans his eyes down to my Billie Eillish, Happier Than Ever sticker on my phone case.
"Oh!" I giggle.
He continues playing and humming along. He gets to the end of the song and starts to sing.
"Im sitting in my brothers room.."
He nudges my shoulder to join in.
"haven't slept in a week..or two." We sing together giggly.
"I think I have fallen in love.."
Our eyes flutter. He stops strumming his guitar.
"What am I to do?.." He sings.
Butterflies fly around in my stomach. Our eyes lock and we inch closer and closer. His soft pink lips touch mine. After a second, it was over..I kissed him.
"Gosh.." he says under his breath.
He looks at me in shock.
"Uh..Im sorry.."
"Oh no..um your fine.." I say looking away. awkwardly "Uh..I actually enjoyed that.." I laugh awkwardly.
"Oh.." He says smiling.
"Could I have your number?!" He says playing with the end of his guitar.
"Sure." I say handing him my phone.
He puts his number in.
"Uh, I gotta go." I say "Thanks..you definitely made me feel better." I smile at him and climb down.
I head back to the camp..then it hit me..I have a boyfriend.
