Kate's pov

'cousin?' tony asks

'yes' i sigh, looking down at my feet 'my only cousin on my mom's side'

they all stand in silence, completely shocked that my own cousin would kidnap me.

at that exact moment, everyone hears faint rustling outside before the door bursts open and yelena runs in

'NOBODY MOVE OR I WILL GUT YOU ALL LIKE A FISH' she yells in her thick russian accent

'lena' i whisper sweetly as her eyes meet mine

her facial expression softens and she suddenly drops her weapon and rushes over to me, but is stopped by eli

'i don't think so' he says firmly

'let go of me' yelena demands

'i would let go of her if i were you' i say calmly

'why? is she your girlfriend or something?' eli smirks

there was a moment of silence between us when yelena finally decides to speak up

'yes' she says calmly 'i am her girlfriend'

a shocked look was plastered on my face. did yelena just call me her girlfriend?

eli then releases yelena as she runs over to me, releasing my hands from the ropes

'girlfriend huh?' i smirk as she looks up at me, finally undoing the knot, then closing the gap between us, kissing me softly

'yelena' i chuckle 'now is not really a good time'

'oh right sorry' she laughs

she helps me out of the metal chair and walks back to the rest of the avengers

'why would you let her go so easily?' steve asks

'i just needed to talk to her, but i told her what i wanted to' he sighs

'you know' tony starts 'there is such thing as a phone when you ca text and call someone instead of kidnapping your own cousin'

'no tony it's fine' i laugh 'besides, eli is a very old-fashioned person. he doesn't have a phone'

'so am i' steve chuckles 

'yeah because your at least one hundred years old' bucky smirks

'so are you pal' steve sighs

'i'll see you later kate' eli smiles 'hopefully next time it doesn't involve kidnapping'

'yeah well you're  the one who did it' i smirk as he pulls me into a hug 'there's the eli i know'

'i've missed you kate' he sighs 

'me too' i smile 

'come on bishop' nat yells from the door

'i should go' i say, smiling dryly

'alright' he mumbles 'bye'

'yeah, bye' i wave to him as i enter the van

'kate?' helena says from her car

'yeah?' i ask walking over to her

'do you wanna ride with me?' she asks in her thick accent

'yeah of course' i smile, hugging her lightly 'i missed you'

'kate i missed you so much. i was so worried about you' she says, hugging me tightly

'you do care about me' i smile, kissing her lightly then sitting in the car

the drive home was silent. not a bad silent though. i closed my eyes but couldn't fall asleep. i could feel yelena's hand on mine as she drove.

'lena?' i say, breaking the silence

'yeah?' she asks, looking at me as i open my eyes to look at her

'do you want to be my girlfriend?' i say nervously

Yelena's pov

what?

did she seriously just ask me that?

'kate...' i say suddenly, focusing on the road

'it's fine if you don't want to be. i know i'm rushing it but it was just an idea' she sighs

'i want to kate. i really do' i say, sighing sadly 'but you know i can't. i have too much going on right now and a relationship would only make things worse. it isn't you it's all me'

'i get it' kate says calmly

i just broke her heart. i broke her heart by rejecting her. if i would have said yes then she would be happy, but no. you had to screw everything up. i even called her my girlfriend earlier, and i just fucked it up. i should have said yes. maybe if i said yes right now she wouldn't even think about how i rejected her first. i don't know though

'yelena?' kate says suddenly

'what's wrong? you zoned out' she asks, obviously knowing the answer

'oh uh nothing' i say, reassuring her

'alright' she mumbles

'Черт возьми' i mutter under my breath 'Ты это испортил'

(^damn it^   ^you ruined it^)

'what was that?' kate asks

'oh uh i was talking to myself' i say, giving her a light smile

kate and i silently drive back to the compound and as soon as we get there, she gets out of the car almost immediately, running in. I trail behind her slowly, dragging my feet on the gravel up to the door

when i get into the building, i tell everyone im going to be in my room and leave before anyone can respond. my phone keeps buzzing with texts, but i just leave it and fall asleep almost immediately.

great. now everything is going to be awkward. i told her cousin she was my girlfriend, i've kissed her maybe too many times to count, and then when she asks if i actually want to be her girlfriend i panic and reject her without hesitation. 

my life is going just great right now.

holy bro i'm so sorry everyone i don't know how it's been a year since over posted a chapter. i've had no confidence in posting and have been so busy. i will try so hard to post again soon but i can't make any promises. if you have any suggestions in which this story should go please comment because i'm out of ideas. and if there are and errors in any of the chapters let me know and i will fix them asap
