"And what you did just now was incredible! How did you get those glittering stars to jump out of your fingers like that? Is that a form of magic? Do you have the ability to convert stone into gold?"
The boy had already posed a series of questions without pausing before the King of the Netherworld could respond. However, if one looked closely, it was easy to notice that the boy's eyes were riveted to the silver jewel on the king's forehead, as if it were glued to the gem.
"You want to learn magical arts?" King of the Netherworld asked again with aloofness in his eyes.
"Yes, yes. Better be the kind which could turn stone into gold. Ah, it'll be better if you can teach me how to move the subject from a distance!" The boy said smilingly with his two eyes curved like the bright crescent moon and his white teeth glistening.
"You don't have to learn the low-level arts like those. I can teach you how to break the space."
The king mentioned that lightly as if it was merely a piece of cake while staring at the young boy seriously.
"Break the space?" The boy was confused, "What's that for?"
"That art has the ability to transport you to all three worlds. Even people with greater spiritual power than you will never be able to stop you from retreating if you can control the space.'' The King of the Netherworld explained.
What he meant was that the boy would be able to escape from any kind of danger by learning that art. After all, the number of the people in the Three Worlds who could employ high-level art like Space Art was less than ten.
"So it's better than moving a subject from a distance?" The boy didn't know how powerful the Space Art was, so he had to compare it with other arts.
After all, he had only been a little scholar before he died.
And also a little thief who robbed the rich to feed the poor and pull the prank from time to time.
He had no idea he'd come into a man with a silver gem on his forehead who wanted to show him how to break the space barrier. For a few moments, the King of the Netherworld remained silent, then nodded beneath the boy's expectant gaze.
The flowers began to sway even more dramatically as the boy smiled... a couple of the lovely blooms began to fade away...
"Fine, I want to learn!" The boy's heroic utterance echoed in the flower sea.
The immense flower sea seemed like a whole independent world. There was even a bright sun in the sky.
"To begin learning, you must have a strong desire to do so. Only a few people have been able to master the Space Art throughout millions of years. Because you have already received the grace of the Way of Heaven, which qualifies you to study the art with me, I am confident that you will succeed if you are willing to put in the effort!" While the king was talking, there were suddenly rays of light shining behind his back.
The boy squinted his eyes to face the dazzling light and asked, "Then how long will it take to learn that? Better be a few months. Because I won't be able to keep on going if it takes longer than that."
"Ten years at least, thousands of years at most."
The voice of King of Netherworld rang by the boy's years, sounding ethereal and distant as if it came from the ancient times.
The smile on the boy's face froze right away. His head was filled with the words 'Thousands of years'...
"Couldn't it be less?" The boy asked tentatively.
The king raised his head when he heard that. His god-like attractive face was suddenly shining, and he appeared to be quite alluring. The beauty of the flowers was overshadowed by the brilliance of the gem on his forehead. He gave the youngster a long look before saying,
"You must begin with the fundamentals of Space Art. Furthermore, your cultivation foundation is insufficient. As a result, you must better yourself while studying."
The boy, in a deep depression, failed to see the light in the king's eyes.
The boy's delicate face was reflected in the eyes of the King of the Netherworld. Then, the latter restored his calmness.
Actually, the king hadn't told the whole truth.
Despite the fact that the boy's cultivation foundation was not particularly strong, he had already absorbed all of the flower's power. As a result, his body was currently acting as a massive energy storage facility. It would only take the boy a little time to transform the energy inside him into spiritual force and become an Immortal in the True God Realm if he could focus on the cultivation. It would be quite simple for him to learn Space Art by then.
However, the King of the Netherworld had no intention to tell the boy that.
"That's too troublesome, I don't want to learn it anymore!" The boy said that with his face bulging.
The boy's eyes which were filled with shrewdness were fixed on the face of the King of Netherworld... The silver gem...
"The weak serve as a prey to the strong. If you don't become stronger, you will only be trod underfoot by others!" King of the Netherworld said that slowly in a flat tone.
It was the boy's decision what kind of person he wanted to be. The king didn't want to force him.
In fact, it was not the first time the boy had heard of that saying.
When he had been five years old, the old beggar on the road had told him,
"In the Heaven Phoenix Dynasty, the weak serve as prey for the powerful. Only the strongest would be able to survive. Only the weak will be enslaved. And beggars like us are even more ineffective than the helpless! The world is supposed to abandon us!"
However, the boy didn't think so.
He didn't need to be strong, nor did he need to stay at the top or treat others underfoot...
Because he chose an easier way to live. That was why he had another identity- A thief Master! Well, a thief.
But the boy knew what they had told him wasn't completely wrong.
It was like besides men and women, there were also another kind of people, the lady-boy!
Therefore, the boy didn't want to be either a strong person or a weak person. He wanted something in between.
As a matter of fact, the boy was very clever. That was why those people had failed to catch him until he died.
Seeing the man being quite serious when talking to him, the boy raised his head and said with a smile, "You are awesome. Can I be your sidekick?"
The silver gem shone bright light onto the boy's face, echoing with the boy's smile as if it was alive. For the moment, everything fell into silence.
"All right, all right. I'll take that as a yes since you didn't say no!" The boy hadn't got any answer from the king after a while, then he just made the decision for the man.
"You'll be my leader afterwards. Don't forget to cover for me! If I am bullied by anyone, you, as my leader, have to stand out for me. It won't look good for you if your sidekick is mistreated, right? My future depends on you!"
While speaking those heartfelt words and earnest hopes, the boy stroked the gorgeous white robe of the King of the Netherworld, feeling the cloth so soft that it made him want to sew his face onto it.
Nice. Because his leader was so wealthy, he would undoubtedly succeed as a sidekick!
The child merely wanted to titter right now, thinking about his bright future!
