The next days passed by slower than Hermione wished them to. Ron would often glare at her incase he would pass her and she would just lower her gaze. She still felt the pain in her chest whenever she saw him and she couldn't get herself to hate him, no matter how hard she tried.

On the other hand though she had Draco, who she spent a lot of time with. Since both of them had different friend groups they barely spent any time outside the dorm, but both once they were both there they would talk about whatever were in their mind.

Surprisingly it was very easy to talk to Draco about everything, he understood things Hermione said and could even talk about the things most people didn't know. He had a lot of knowledge about many things and they could easily understand both sides.

They studied together and also did the homework together, sometimes they would sneak into the library and sit down somewhere and read a book.

And that way the months passed by and it was soon the day Hermione hated the most. She already had taken a leave of absence from Dumbledore. The day her mother died was still not an easy day for her.

Her window was open and she was looking down on the huge ground of the school. The cold night wind was blowing her hair and caressing her skin while she was lost in her thoughts.

It was the first year she wouldn't be with Harry and Ron. They would always be there on the day and comfort her but this year she would have to go alone. Harry did offer her to accompany her but she refused knowing it was already hard for him.

As obvious as he was on her side it was also hard for him to just ignore Ron and Hermione didn't want their friendship to be destroyed because of her. So she told him it was really fine and she would manage it. Besides she assured him that her father would be with her this year, which was a lie.

Her father didn't bear to ever go to the grave of her mother. Hermione really didn't like her stepmother, she had treated her like a slave since she had married her father. But nevertheless she was a good wife to her father. She would care for him and he was genuinely happy with her. A reason why Hermione couldn't tell him about the stuff Meredith often made her do.

Sarah wasn't a good sister as well but again a good daughter and her father loved her as much as Hermione. Hermione never really felt jealous but sometimes she did wish to have her father for herself. She didn't see him a lot since she lived in Hogwarts and even when she happened to be home he worked all day and she saw him for some minutes when he came back.

He really tried her best to be a good father and Hermione knew that. She sighed. Having to go to her mothers grave alone was making her anxious a little bit. She wished for some mental support but the situation didn't really give her any option.

She closed the window before putting her hair in a low ponytail and turning the lights off. She knew she wouldn't be able to sleep that night but laying awake in her bed seemed better than to just walk around considering the fact that it would probably drive her even more crazy.

Draco saw Hermiones light turning off just when he was leaving the bathroom. He also went into his room but didn't plan on sleeping yet. He carefully took the picture on his desk and looked at it.

The picture was a moment of his mom hugging him and smiling, he was pretty young at that time, too young to even remember this moment.

He went over his face with his hand before starring at the wall in front of him. How many years had passed since his mother had been gone? He didn't even want to count them.

Another year had passed without her and he wished she would've been here. He wondered how she would've reacted knowing that he befriended Hermione. She probably would have been happy for him, he thought.
