prologue

(jade pov)

hey there, my name is jade rose xiao long, and right now it was night time and my "father" is punching me over and over again simply because he wanted to.

let me back up a bit, you see although I had there last name I wasn't actually related to them I was actually adopted by them, why they adopted me if they were just going to beat me I have no idea why, all I do know is that I hate it.

all they do is beat me whenever fell it, and my sisters have this little habit of breaking things and then blaming it on me knowing full well that I will take the blame for it.

tai: now stay down in your room or I'll beat you again!

jade: o-ok.

as tai left I just couldn't help but to crawl up into a ball and think about my life, why do they do this to me? I mean come on, if they didn't want me and were just going to abuse me then why would they even bother getting me?!

my body was covered in bruises, I had numerous scars all over my body, if anyone in the outside world saw me for even a second they would call the police on them, of course I'm never allowed to set foot outside so that will never gonna happen.

I just stayed there curled up on the floor of my room which was just the basement, I just there cold, hungry, tired and in pain.....

jade: please... someone... help me.

I then pass out in a puddle of my own blood.

I was having a peaceful dream, I was in a meadow smelling flowers and watching butterflies... it was beautiful and I wished this moment could last forever... of course... my life wasn't that simple.

I was awoken by a hard hit into my stomach, I keeled over in pain as my eyes shot up at who hit me.

yang: rise and shine! dad wants you to make breakfast now!

I whimpered a bit before pulling myself up and proceeded to walk up the stairs out of the basement, but once I made it to the top step I was suddenly tripped and fell face first onto the floor, i could hear yang laughing and before I could pick myself up someone grabbed me and pulled me up.

summer: get off the floor you little rat and make our breakfast already!

jade: y-yes ma'am.

after that I hurried into the kitchen and tried my best to prepare breakfast without letting the rest of my so called family seeing the tears coming from my eyes.

(summer pov)

I watched at she ran off to the kitchen clearly trying to hide her tears but everyone could clearly see she was crying, I felt bad for a second but got over it quickly.

wait why do I hate her? she hasn't done anything bad to us maybe we shou-

door: *knock knock*

ah the doorbell, I wonder who's there.

I hurried over towards the front door and opened it, I smiled when I saw who was there.

summer: hi raven, hey qrow.

qrow: hey summer how have you been lately?

summer: oh I've been great, things are pretty calm here in patch but I kind of wish something would happen... so how have you been raven?

raven: alright, I have vernal taking care of the tribe at the moment so I've got maybe... a week to myself.

summer: well it's great to see you again, Its been 4 months since you last came over.
