Chapter seventeen ~His eyes, the ones that share the color of the forest, was staring straight into the mirror in front of him. He hadn't moved from the edge of his bed where his body was growing weak by each day. He was losing himself.
It wasn't long before soft knocks interrupted, he blinked a few times to collect himself in which he finally turns away from the mirror.
"Yes?" He calls to the person waiting on the other side of the door.
"It's me, Virgo. I have your breakfast, would you like it now? Or prefer me to place it back in the kitchen until you're ready?" Her voice softly speaks and he thinks for a moment, appreciating her action.
"Oh that would be fine, you can come in."
Once she opened the door, she sensed the energy right away. She ignored it however, for both of their sakes.
"The others thought you were still asleep, but I still wanted to check that you eat." She told and he nods.
"Thank you, Virgo"
"Of course, Capricorn"
She approached and placed his food on the nightstand. Her eyes scanned the notebook that laid alongside his lamp, making her eyes soften.
"I gave you the last red apple by the way, and the next batch of fruits don't come in until two days from now. You think you can manage until then?" She lightly jokes and he looked up at her as he still remained seated on the edge of his bed.
"It's fine, the green apples should satisfy me enough." He replied and her expression shifted at his response.
"But," her gentle eyes observed his face, "you hate green apples"
Silence filled the space between them.
Capricorn finally stood up from his bed and walked closer to her, reaching pass her to grab the apple.
"You're right, I must've forgot" He speaks slowly as his eyes gaze away from her, glancing back at the mirror.
"You hate anything sour..." she continues, but this time in a mumble.
Virgo glanced at the mirror and made eye contact with him through it, she sighed before speaking, "Hey, Capricorn, you aren't....doing anything weird right?"
His eyes immediately turned away from hers in the mirror and moved to the actual ones right in front of him, staring down at her.
"What do you mean?"
She swallowed the air inside her mouth, the nervous feelings rose within her as she started questioning the man.
"I mean, you aren't involving yourself in acts that break the rules, right?" She asked and it almost felt as if his eyes were saying something that his mouth wasn't.
"You're right. You don't need to act all cautious around me."
"If you say so," Virgo stepped backwards and shook her head with a light smile. "Enjoy your breakfast, I'll see you later," She ends as she walks away and out his room, closing the door behind her. His eyes didn't leave hers until she fully left him alone. He clenched the red apple in his hand and brought it up his face, mumbling a few words.
"I hate green apples..."
