I woke up to the sounds of the four seasons by Vivaldi. I walked to the auditorium to find Kat performing the piece masterfully. As the piece continued the rest of the group slowly filed in and quietly listened.
When she finished we all started clapping "more!" We all shouted. "Alright." She smiled and started playing a tone that I hadn't heard before something soft and sweet like a breeze.
We made it, not that we were out there for long but here we are listening to music and enjoying ourselves.
After she finishes, she bows and comes to us. "We need to enjoy the little things while we can." She looked at James real quick and walked away.
"Well since it seems like we get to have fun today, you want to join me on the court Jake?" Zack said, grinning widely. "You might be fast but not fast enough to stop my 3-pointers." We laughed and headed to the gym.
Zack was crushing me, running around me and stealing the ball like I was frozen, until it seemed like time stopped, I fell down and blacked out. When I came too, Zack and Lisa were standing over me. "Are you alright man?" Zack asked, as he reached his hand out to help me up. I grabbed it and got to my feet. "Yea I just feel light headed." I said at the risk of sounding crazy if I told the truth. "Alright let's call it a game then." Zack smiled and patted my back.
We walked to the kitchen where there was a hint of spice in the air. As we walked in James greeted us. "Hey guys it's almost ready, we're having chili tonight." He said adding a little spice to his words to match the food. "Mmmm sounds delicious." Zack said practically slobbering over the food. "How long was I out?" I wondered. "5 hours, we were worried man, but this kinda meal is exactly what you need to get over whatever it is."
When the food was ready we all gathered in the cafeteria. Zack and Lisa sat away from everyone else. James and Kat sat next to each other smiling and holding hands. "What did I miss?" I asked. "Ah well after you guys went to play basketball, Kat and I started talking and found out we have more in common than we thought." James smiled. "Before this I would've never thought I'd end up with James, but I couldn't be happier that the person I wanted was here all along." Kat leaned on his shoulder and blushed. "What about Zack and lisa?" I looked over at them and saw that Lisa was crying and Zack was holding her. "Her mother went in to check on her dad, when he…" Kat looked away. "Her dad turned and bit her. We locked them in the nurse's office, but we haven't taken them out yet."
After hearing that we all went quiet and finished eating in silence. I grabbed Zack and pulled him to the side. "We need to get them out of here." "I know." He looked down.
We headed to the nurse's office with metal pipes in hand. When we opened the door we saw the window was open. We looked all around but there was no trace of them. Zack closed the window. "Maybe it's better this way, let's just say we did it and let this whole me be done with."
After we made it back to the cafeteria I noticed the storm had seemed to get closer.
Boom!
A lightning bolt struck a house a few blocks away and shook the school. "I think I need some rest." I told everyone as I headed to my room.
Falling asleep during the storm was not easy, it seemed like the lightning kept getting closer. I closed my eyes and soon heard a sweet melody passing through the halls. I fell asleep.
BOOM!BOOM!BOOM!
I was thrown awake by the sound of lightning striking over and over again. I rushed to the window to see what was going on when the glass got struck by lightning. I was thrown back and glass was flying everywhere. I got up as quickly as I could and ran to the nurses office.
Zack and Lisa were also awake. "What happened?!" Lisa exclaimed. "Lightning struck my window and threw me across the room." I said, trying to catch my breath.
