They say tragic beginnings shape us into who we are. Is it true? Yes. I out of all people should know after all many people would consider my childhood to be extremely tragic.

It all started many years ago in the outskirts of none other than New York City. My name...Gabrielle (Elle) Alice Grey. My best friend also known as my twin brother...Ethan Oliver Grey. My parents were Marie Alice Grey and William Oliver Grey. The first six years of my life were full of happiness, hope and adventure! But even the happiest stories have an ending...On a rainy day late November Ethan and I were home alone mindlessly watching television when suddenly...*knock knock* there was a knock on the door... "Who could be there??!!" I frightfully said to Ethan "Don't worry Ellie I'll find out." As Ethan headed to the door I hid behind the sofa shaking in fear...worried of who could be behind the door on a late rainy day..."Ellie!! Come here!" Ethan exclaimed I had hesitantly walked over where I had seen two cops at our doorstep with a pained expression on their face "Gabrielle and Ethan Grey...correct?" "It's Elle actually." I quickly corrected the officer. "Well Elle and Ethan..." I had felt proud that my name was before Ethan's because I am obviously the important twin. "We are very sorry to inform you that your mother Marie and your father Liam have tragically passed away... they were on their way home when a drunk driver rear ended them...we had transported them to a hospital but... unfortunately it was too late...we are very sorry for your loss..."

Passed away...passed away...passed away. Those two words made my life come crashing down my happy childhood. Gone. My parents. Gone. What would happen to us? Where would we be sent? I started crying uncontrollably...there was nothing I could do that would bring my parents back. No matter how many tears I shed my parents would never ever come back...It was just me and Ethan now us versus whatever life has in store for us.

Trust me life had soo much in store for us some good some bad but what had mattered the most was that no matter what I always knew that Ethan would be by my side. On the rainy days to the sunniest days we would face it all together!! At least knowing that I would have Ethan by my side kept me somewhat hopeful for whatever life had in store for us. But still nothing or even anyone could ever replaced my parents...That was a void that would never ever be filled.

"Dead?? Our parents dead..." Ethan said fighting back the tears forming in his eyes "Unfortunately that is the case..." the officer said looking down. "B-Bu-but where will we go! W-we need our p-parents I w-want my m-mom and my d-dad here with us..." Ethan suddenly burst into tears I hugged Ethan still wondering if this was actually real. Are our parents really gone? Why was it OUR parents gone? Why couldn't they have survived...

"Now both of ya'll get into the car" The officer looked to the police car parked outside of our house. "B-but our parents...said not to get into strangers cars!!" I told the officers. "And w-we don't want to leave our home..." Ethan said with a pained expression on his face. "Yeah what about our house!!" What would become of the house that I lived all my life. The house that is all that Ethan and I have left from our parents... "Well we will see tomorrow if ya'll would like but for now the two of you have to get in." "Where are we going?" I asked after all they could be officers they couldn't it might be safe to get in their call or it might not. But we have nothing so getting in the car was the best shot of survival.

As Ethan and I got into the car my eyes instantly wondered to the police radio and siren of course. "Would you like to turn the siren on?" The officer asked me. I nodded my head. The officer showed me how to turn on the siren as I turned on the siren a slight smile formed on my face.

About 30 minutes later we arrived to what seemed like a nice cozy home. We followed the officers to the doorstep. *Ding Dong* One of the officers rang the doorbell. "Hello?" the person from behind the door replied. 'You are a foster parent, correct?" the officer asked "Yes indeed I am. May I ask why you ask?" "We were wondering if you could take these twins in since there seems to be no relatives at the moment and if in fact there is a suitable relative we'll have the twins go there." "Yes of course they can stay here! May I ask what happened of their parents?" The officer said "Well it was a tragic car accident..." "Oh my!! How horrible the poor children!!" "Indeed...well here they are Gabrielle" "Ahem" I said to the officer. "Oh excuse me Elle Alice Grey and Ethan Oliver Grey." "Well they are certainly adorable!! Thank you for bringing them here" The lady told the officers. The officers nodded and walked off.

"Come in!!" The lady said to Ethan and I. I walked in holding my favorite teddy bear and a picture of what was our family ,and Ethan holding his favorite dog plushie. "I am Emilia your new foster mom!" "I'm Elle..." "That is such a beautiful name!!" "And I'm Ethan" "That is an amazing name!!" Emilia said. "Well would ya'll two mind sleeping on the couch just for tonight and then tomorrow we can decorate your rooms!! Would ya'll like that?" "Yes" I nodded. "Yes" Ethan said. "Well that sounds like a plan! The two of you need some rest . Let me grab ya'll some blankets and pillows." I nodded still trying to accept that this was actually real. "Here ya'll go!" Emilia handed us a bunch of blankets and pillows. "T-thank you" Me and Ethan said to Emilia. "No problem!! Goodnight Elle! Goodnight Ethan!" Emilia said to us as she headed to bed. "G-goodnight..." Ethan and I said to Emilia as we set up the blankets and pillows to our liking.

This is real...Even though I knew that all of tonight's events were very much real I still couldn't accept it.
