THIRD PERSON POV
Tristan sat in his car, staring off into space. The wheels in his head were turning, ultimately regretted having agreed to accompany Becky to the debutante ball.
Not because he didn't want to be her escort because he does. He just thinks someone could fit the role better. Jess. The blonde even thought about faking an injury so he could take his place. But after sharing his idea with Nia and getting yelled at for it, he changed his mind. Kind of.
"Injuries are common in football. Becky wouldn't suspect anything," he had told her.
A loud set of knocks made him jump in his seat and snap out of his thoughts. He turned to see his green-eyed best friend smiling as she waved her hand.
"Hey. Tengo frio, me abres la puerta?" she asked as the cool September air caused a shiver to go down her spine. At the sound of the doors unlocking, the girl scurried around the vehicle. Throwing her duffle bag into the back seat, she slammed the door shut to keep the cold out. ("I'm cold, can you open the door?")
"Thanks for picking me up," the brunette sighed as she leaned in to hug the blonde.
Tristan backed away. way. "No! Get away. You're all sweaty from kicking a ball around and you wanna give me a hug?" he whined. Becky rolled her eyes and wrapped her arms around her friend.
The pair spent the next half hour telling jokes and catching up. They hadn't seen each other since their sleepover. "Do you even know how to waltz?" Tristan asked as they pulled into Becky's driveway.
"No,"
The boy turned to look at his friend. "The ball is this Saturday. You expect to learn to waltz in four days?"
"Oh, come on. How hard could it be?"

"Un, dos, tres. Un, dos, tre-"
"Ow!"
"I'm sorry!"
Becky stepped away from Tristan as he leaned down to rub his foot. It was the third time she's stepped on him in the past hour. The girl put her head in her hands and let out an exasperated groan. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get the moves right.
"How about we take a break?" Angela suggested, feeling the frustration radiating from her daughter.
"I could go get some coffee and donuts," Tristan offered.
"I'll go with you!"
"No, you're staying, te acabas de bañar y no quiero que te me enfermes," she said sternly. Becky pouted. "Tristan, honey, could you get three coffees and a few donuts from Luke's?" Angela asked as she handed the blonde a few bills. ("You just showered and I don't want you to get sick,")
"Yeah, I'll be back in a minute,"
Angela sighed as her gaze landed on Becky. She was slumped over a chair as she took deep breaths, trying to calm herself. She knew her daughter enough to know she had been overthinking.
"No te agüites mija. You still have a few days. You'll get the hang of it." she cooed. ("Don't worry darling.")
"Ma, the ball is in four days."
"You'll learn in time. Sebas can help you practice." Becky curled into her mother's side, chasing the comfort she was offering.
Smiling, Angela played with her daughter's hair. Sweet moments like these came far and between for the pair. Similar mentalities causing them to butt heads and argue. Often causing the green-eyed girl to escape her home for a bit in order to calm down and collect her thoughts. So, when loving moments like these occurred, Angela did her best to savor and cherish them.
