Eden's point of view
"Is that the way you greet your son, father?" He questioned.
I heard the gasps from the crowd and the stage behind me. I watched this man in disbelief.
It had to be a joke, Kane was dead. There was no way someone could survive that long in the forest at such a tender age and still be alive. This was all a very sick joke.
My wolf protested within my head. She chanted and chanted continuously. Telling me to trust him, that this was Kane.
I squinted my eyes towards him and suddenly a gasp escaped my lips. I noticed the similarities between the Alpha and Luna. His green eyes seemed to mirror Luna Peyton's and his face seemed like a much younger version of Alpha Blake.
I suddenly knew that this man was Kane Russell, that he had returned to us. Then it dawned on me that he was my mate. The lost Alpha was my mate.
I wanted to run up towards him and fling my arms around him. But I knew that now was not the time for such silly antics. I have never wanted a mate and some silly mate bond wasn't going to change that. At least not yet.
Then all of a sudden a cry left the stage and Luna Peyton rushed down the steps and towards us. Before anyone could protest her action or stop her she was already in front of Kane.
I watched as she stood deathly still in front of him. Her eyes craned upwards and took him all in. Her hands suddenly stuck out and touched his cheek. It was such a motherly action, one filled with love and hope.
She moved her hand upwards towards his eyebrow and I watched in question as she inspected it. It was only then that I realized what she was doing. Kane had cut open his eyebrow while playing with Flynn and Isaac when they were nine.
The injury was deep and had left him with a long scar from the top of his eyebrow down to the middle of his temple.
She suddenly cried out again and I knew that she had found it. She flung her arms around Kane and cried into his chest. He was much taller than other wolves, taller than his father and all the warriors. Luna Peyton didn't even reach his shoulders and she was much taller than me.
Suddenly there was noise around me. The crowd murmured as they watched the interaction. They were sceptical and I did not blame them. We had spent twelve years looking for Kane and now he waltzed into our territory on the twelfth anniversary of his disappearance. What was even more bizarre was the fact that it was the exact day Beta Flynn was going to become Alpha.
"Kane, oh goddess, it is you!" Alpha Blake called out.
He cried out before rushing towards his son and wife. He reached them quickly and wrapped his arms around them. The crowd erupted into joy as they realized he was Kane.
I remained still in my position as I watched the scene before me unfold. Beta Flynn and Gamma Isaac rushed forward to Kane. They did some weird hug that I didn't quite understand, but it didn't matter.
Flynn and Isaac blocked Kane from my view. They were both tall and muscular, but nothing compared to Kane. I tried desperately to find his eyes but failed as his back was now towards me.
Alpha Blake climbed back up the stage and spoke hurriedly into the microphone.
"Our misfortune has ended, the Goddess has returned and she has brought back with her my son and your future Alpha!"
The crowd erupted into another set of cheers as Kane lifted his hand in greeting. His eyes were focused on the crowd and he seemed to not pay me much attention.
