"Have you heard about, Silco?" Powder whispered, swirling her hot cocoa, mixing the whipped cream in more.
It was 1 pm, a Sunday afternoon. We decided on going to a cafe because it had a calming atmosphere, and mainly because Powder wanted a croissant and hot cocoa. She'd kill someone to have even just a sip.
Moving on to the main point.
Silco, a man that was loyal to Zaun. He didn't only stand as a leader, but a light, a fragment of hope. He showered in gold and brushed his teeth with diamonds, yet he spent most of his day fixing this city that was left broken by many leaders before.
He did many good things, bringing in education, good-paying jobs, hell, even proper laws that won't get 4-year-olds attacked in the middle of the streets. He was a good man.
Until he was driven to madness. Nobody knows when it started and why. But we all knew it started affecting him to the point it made him destroy almost everything he built. Reflecting that same behavior upon the people he changed. The rules he set, he broke by himself, spreading and crafting drugs.
One of the most dangerous, well-known, and most addictive drugs was shimmer. Getting its name from how vibrant and sparkly it was. Turning the addicts' eyes into a fuchsia color.
There were 3 types. One that affected the person physically, another mentally, and the final one affecting both. You could barely tell the difference between the 3, making it more dangerous and risky to take.
Now Silco is known for being a wanted criminal who spends most of his days murdering and terrorizing. It was pretty hard not to know the man.
"Yeah, I know who he is. Who wouldn't?" I reply, taking a bite out of my own pastry. It was a honeybun with white and tan sprinkles. I caught Powder picking some of the sprinkles off when she thought I wasn't looking.
"Well, my babysitter, Sevika, used to work for him." Powder stated, a grin plastered on her face.
The only reason Powder has a babysitter now is because she thought sneaking out would be a good idea. Apparently, Vander caught her when he was driving home, getting her grounded and a babysitter.
I kind of feel bad, but it's pretty much laughable.
"She was sent to prison for 10 years. One, she sold drugs, and two, she was helping a criminal mastermind!" Powder announced, flailing her arms in the air. "But she honestly has a lot of cool scars, tattoos, and stories. She even lost an arm, so I don't mind."
