The little girl stood on her toes, teetering and stumbling, peering at the pot. The water inside sloshed and bubbled, the sound making her giggle. Around her, other cooks bustled and maids hurriedly grabbed things before quickly leaving. An older girl stood chopping vegetables behind her, watching the girl carefully. The little girl gazed curiously at her, and she smiled, passing her some carrots. The little girl stood on her toes again and sprinkled them into the water, a smile lighting up her face. The older girl motioned for the spoons, and the little girl passed her one, not noticing as her hand brushed a tiny wheel, the heat increased. The older girl's eyes opened wide, and she shouted out, scrambling for the wheel. The little girl watched, confused, shoved aside. A few other cooks shouted, stepping back, closing their eyes. Then the room erupted with red and orange, and the older girl became lost in the flames. The little girl could no longer see, and she cried, confused. She stumbled backwards and felt a sharp pain in her head before the sounds of crackling and the smell of smoke disappeared.
