After a long day of exploring, Yuumi the magic cat jumped onto a windowsill, stretched and fell asleep a few seconds later.
The noise of the passers-by around her did not prevent her from sleeping, but she felt nostalgic for the time when she could sleep in the quiet of her mistress' big house. She let herself be carried away by this sweet memory and joined the arms of Morpheus. A cat's dreams are inaccessible to humans, but on the other hand, those who realize that a cat is dreaming have all sorts of opportunities. A local beggar was attracted by the brightness of the perfectly groomed white coat, he would have put his hand through to feel the softness, but something else caught his attention. The cat was sleeping next to a book, but not just any book, this one seemed to contain a very precious piece of knowledge.
Without asking any more questions, he checked that the owner was sleeping soundly and then stole the mysterious manuscript. He walked through a few streets and then sat down on a bench to discover the contents of his find. Unfortunately, a magic book cannot fall into the hands of everyone, the thief did not manage to open it, he took it in all directions, shook it, tried to tear off the cover... But none of these techniques worked, he pitied and left the book on the bench, he would have wasted less time by going to beg on the public square.
When Yuumi opened her eyes, the night was about to fall, the streets were quieter than this afternoon.
She yawned and nodded, indicating that her book should be in front of her so that she could move. Mechanically, she walked straight ahead, what a surprise when she hit the ground with a meow. Why hadn't he moved? She climbed back up to the window and was startled when she noticed that her book was gone. She observed her surroundings, perhaps it had fallen while she was sleeping. Not seeing him around, she tried to call him, without success.
After a few minutes of incomprehension, she understood that she would have to look for his manuscript if she wanted to see him again one day. So she jumped off the ledge where she had been sleeping and began her search. It had been a long time since her paw pads had touched solid ground, they were not used to this cold and hard contact. She hoped her paws wouldn't hurt too much and thought about what kind of person could have stolen her book. An antique dealer? A bookseller? An overly curious child? The possibilities seemed endless, but the magic cat was not discouraged. After a few minutes of walking, she found a bookstore, entered discreetly and observed the many shelves full of books. She then tried to call her book.
Suddenly, as soon as the word "book" came out of her mouth, three large manuscripts fell down beside her. One of them opened and sucked Yuumi right in. She didn't have the time to realize that she had already found her precious. She let herself float in the air then smelled the surroundings. An unusual feeling invaded her, this odor did not say anything to her and when she wanted to land on the ground to understand the situation, she realized that she floated in the vacuum. She then understood very quickly that the book that had sucked her in was not the right one. She sighed and noticed a pink shape appearing in her field of vision, this shape appeared to be a giant octopus that was coming straight at her while mumbling incomprehensible words. She screamed at the book to let her out and fortunately, all the magic books worked the same way.
She found herself back in the store, face to face with a disgruntled salesman. His look was even more terrifying than the octopus she had just met. She then left the store under the insults of the one who held her.
Yuumi was at the bottom of the abyss, she felt so lonely without her mistress, without her grimoire... She returned to the window sill where she had slept and waited for the night to pass to continue her research.
The next day, the unbearable noise of the humans woke her up, the little cat was in a black mood and anyone who would want to bother her would end up very badly.
She walked on the top of the roofs of the city to observe the Men from above, here she felt untouchable. Why had the only human she liked disappeared?
While she was depressed staring at the heads of the humans, she saw a book similar to hers under a man's elbow. She jumped right off the roof and landed on his shoulders. Surprised, he used the book to hit Yuumi. Shocked by this gesture, she scratched the thief's face, opened her book and teleported away from this awful city.
As for the poor man attacked by the wild cat, he collapsed on the street crying, he had just lost the book that his wife had been looking for years to find her cat...
