CHAPTER 6: make a choice

"so... who's going to be the sacrifice?" the words echo in your head as you try to make sense of it all. you even feel a little lightheaded, and somehow, your best friend already seems to notice that. "(y/n)..." you can faintly hear your concerned best friend's voice from behind as you try not to slip away from consciousness, which is something you seemed to have been doing often lately. "come on!! don't make me choose for you!! why're you hesitating, (y/n)? hard for you to say, 'sacrifice my best friend'? i can always say it for you! AHAHAHA~!!" the figure laughs maniacally. your best friend growls. "look... just sacri-" "me..." you cut your friend off. "just sacrifice me..." "eh~?" the figure tilts its head. "I've been nothing but a burden to Denny and Linlin, so just sacrifice me-" "(Y/N), WHAT ARE YOU SAYING!?" now your best friend cuts you off. "how could you say something like that!? you think nobody wants you around?? you're not a burden!! not at all! at least, to me..."  you tear up at your best friend's words. ugh... this situation has got me thinking such insane things i never thought i would even think... but... if there needs to be a sacrifice here and now, then- but a loud bang at the breaker room's door interrupts all that is currently happening, including your thoughts. "ugh! finally found you!" you can hardly believe it... "Denny?!" you exclaim, turning to look at him. "UGH! what're you doing here!?" the figure, frustrated, jumps back on the pipes above and retreats. "huh? who was that??" Denny asks, confused. "we don't know either! but please untie us, quickly! we've got to get out of here as soon as possible!" your best friend says, as Denny unties the ropes and you all quickly make it out of there.

"Denny, how did you know where we were?" you ask, all three of you walking along and finding your way back to the base. "I was already back at the base, but you and Linlin hadn't made it back yet at all. I got really worried, and, well... I guess I just had a feeling?" upon hearing this, you almost felt like he knew more than he was leading on. "where's Linlin?" you ask. "I... don't know. but something tells me she will be fine on her own. heck, we might even meet her back at the base." Denny replies. what does that mean, I wonder? you think to yourself. and who was that person...? they're definitely a threat... but what to do about them...? you all make it back to the base, and see Linlin sitting on the couch, resting her chin in her hands, grinning. she almost seemed to be panting, as if she was just running. "hah... you're all finally back... and with a new friend?" Linlin says with a smile. "yeah..." Denny replies. you can't help but notice suspicion even in his voice of all people. "hehe! accommodation for 4!! good thing we just restocked on food, i even brought us just enough extras for 4~!" Linlin sings, as she opens the freezer to reveal what she brought back. "how about you all?" urk..! I completely forgot we were supposed to do that...! you panic to yourself. "we brought just enough." Denny says, holding up a bag of food. "ah!! wonderful~! this should be just enough~" Linlin says, grabbing the bag and stuffing the food within the freezer. "so.... (y/n)... this is where you've been staying?" your best friend turns to you, asking. "well, yeah... we've been trying to find an exit, but..." "oh! so you two know each other?" Linlin cuts in. "well, yeah!! (y/n) is my best friend!! they came to this Ikea, looking for a Samsung 36 Inch Wide 26.5 Cu. Ft. Energy Star Rated Full Size Refrigerator with Family Hub for me, but hasn't come back since... i got really worried, so i came to Ikea to look for them, but the power suddenly went out! I was looking for a way out, but..." "I see, I see..." Linlin says, nodding her head. "well, you two are reunited now though, isn't that right?" "not in the way I was hoping for!! we have a school to go to and stuff... hey..." suddenly, your best friend's eyes land on Denny, looking closer. "(y/n), this is...!" you already knew what they were talking about. you finally reach into your pocket, and fish out the missing poster you were keeping in there all along. "(y/n)...? what's that...?" Denny says, coming closer to take a look at the poster. suddenly, he has a look of despair, noticing that the poster had said "missing" with his own face on it. he grows silent for a moment. "Denny?" you say, concerned, holding the paper away from his vision. "we... we have to find a way out of here. starting tomorrow... we've got to start trying our best. I want to see all of us make it out of here, not just try to survive in this foreign place as if it's our home now..." Denny has a determined look on his face, turning to face you and nodding his head. "...right!!" you exclaim, also sharing a face of determination with him. "i'll do all that I can to make sure we get out of here together!" your best friend also cheers. there's a delay with Linlin, but she eventually gets up, joining with the rest of you. "let's do our best~" she chimes with a smile.
