Third person POV, most of the story will be like this.

Y/n had known Camilo since he was nine, and they became best friends quickly, it only taking five days. They shared the same humor and liked to prank people together, scaring them with Camilo's gift, shapeshifting. It was traditional that when children of the Madrigal family turned of age, in which was five, they got a power, otherwise known as a gift. The only time it didn't work was the gift ceremony of Mirabel Madrigal, where the door had disappeared instead of turning into a full fledged room, not giving her a gift.

Y/n had a gift as well, but not like that. He had a special talent for gardening. Which was one of the reasons he didn't like Isabella, the Madrigal's golden child. He saw her as competition, always showing off. He tried his best to avoid her on all occasions.

It's the present now.

Y/n walked around town, in search of his best friend. All of a sudden, a rude kid walked by, he looked about 10, and stepped on Y/n's foot. He stuck his tongue out and walked away. "Wait a minute." Y/n said, getting the game. He put his hand on the kid's head, grabbing his hair. The kid hiccuped, and he turned back into Camilo, lifting Y/n's hand up a bit over his head. "Knew it," Y/n started. "you were so mean." He finished. Camilo flicked his forehead. "What can I say?" Camilo said while Y/n flinched. "No, I mean seriously. I have no excuse." He chuckled, putting his hands on his thighs to get to Y/n's level like he was five years old.

"Stop, making fun of my height is not an option." Y/n said ominously, pulling out his  finger gun and punching Camilo in the arm. "Pew!" Y/n shouted. A few people looked at him like he was the weirdest thing they had ever seen, and Camilo jumped at each one of them protectively. To Y/n, I mean. Y/n chuckled. "People give me that look because they're gay." He said accusingly. Camilo stiffened a little. "Yep, totally gay." He said quietly.

"You okay?" Y/n asked. "Why do you always stiffen when I talk about gay people?" Camilo was now completely frozen in place now, not looking at Y/n. "No reason," he said quickly, walking off. That was really weird. Y/n thought to himself. Damn, you awkward man. He thought, walking away from the place he was standing, going back to his house. He flopped onto his bed and started fiddling with his sheets. I should go to the garden. That always makes me relax. Y/n got up, tied an apron around his waist, pulled on his gloves, put on his boots and sun hat, got his tools, and headed outside to his backyard, where his garden was at.

After a couple of hours of tilling, hole making, seed arranging, and watering, Y/n wiped the sweat off his forehead and looked down proudly at his garden. All of a sudden, he felt something heavy bonk on his left shoulder, and it was slightly sharp, but dull. Y/n did a small yelp, but didn't flinch an inch, which looked quite ridiculous. He felt the curls touch his face, and he looked over to see Camilo's head. "Geez! I could of died then!" Y/n exclaimed, slightly angry at Camilo. "Oh come on, you just screamed into air." Camilo said, slightly tilting his head.

"I yelped." Y/n said defensively. "That's worse." Camilo laughed. "Oh shut up." Y/n said, rolling his eyes. "Anyways, why are you here?" He asked, slightly annoyed. "And why are you sold bold as to lean over and rest on my shoulder?" He finished with a smug smirk and one eyebrow raised. "Bold in what sort of way?" Camilo asked with the same amount of smugness, slightly blushing, but his curls covered most of it. "Depends." Y/n said, walking forward, which made Camilo fall forward. He covered it with a ground roll, finishing it with a ninja pose. Y/n clapped sarcastically, slightly impressed, but not willing to show it. "Hey, what's that?" Y/n said, pointing to Camilo's hand.

"Oh." He said, standing up. "It's a rose. You like gardening, so I grew this." He said, holding out the most beautiful rose you had ever seen. It was bright red, with an emerald stem. It had small water droplets on it, which shined in the evening sun. "It's beautiful!" Y/n exclaimed, covering his mouth. His hands dropped to the sides of his body. "Wait, you grew it!?" He asked with even more awe. Camilo went a bit red. "Well, yeah." He said, scratching the back of his neck. Y/n slowly took the rose, admiring it's beauty. He knelt down and patted the rose into the dirt of his garden, right smack dab in the middle. "It'll stay alive longer if I put it in the ground." Y/n said with a smile.

"Thank you." Y/n said, standing up. "I absolutely love it."

"And I absolutely love you." Camilo muttered under his breath.

"Huh?" Y/n asked, pulling off his gloves. "Nothing!" Camilo said quickly with a smirk, crossing his eyes in the wrong direction. You started to laugh your ass off. Camilo watched Y/n with a bittersweet smile as he rolled on the ground, laughing. "HeL- HeLp mE!" He exclaimed through laughter. He started silently wheezing. Camilo stood over him, chuckling, which also turned into laughter, which turned into rolling on the ground while silently wheezing. Y/n's laughter was just contagious I guess. So there they were, two boys, rolling on the ground laughing.
