It was new years eve and Kenma stayed home for the holiday. his parents were out with friends and family so he had the whole house to himself. Although his parents invited him to come, he declined the offer not wanting to socialize with family he had possibly never even met before. he didn't like to hear those sappy comments adults would give kids at family events. they made him uncomfortable. He sat in his bed, peacefully listening to the fireworks while playing video games. that was until his door burst opened.
he jumped and stiffened up like a cat. he heard a chuckle. "oh sorry kitten i didn't mean to scare you like that. anyways wanna go see the fireworks with me at my place?" it was his childhood best friend and next door neighbor kuroo. "you could have at least knocked." kenma put his head down, slightly mad at kuroo for scaring him like that. "well i said sorry so lets go. no psp" he started walking in hopes kenma would follow him. kenma jolted his head up. "kuroo! I didn't even say yes!"
kuroo brought his figure back into the door frame "you didn't say no either so come on!" he walked up to kenmas bed a grabbed his arm. "HEYYYYY! Kuroo I can walk myself! I don't need assistantse!" kuroo let go of kenmas arm and smiled at him. which made kenmas cheeks warm up the slightest bit.
Once they reached kuroos backyard, they sat on the back porch, watching the fireworks together. This was probably one of the few things kenma liked doing besides playing video games all day. It was gettting darker than before after awhile and up until that point, they had striked up random conversations every few minutes. Then kuroo asked. "Hey kenma?" not taking his gaze off of the beautiful firework lit sky. Kenma hummed in response with a questioning tone is his voice. "Have you met them yet?"
kenma was slightly confused at how blunt the question was. Has he met them? What does that mean? "What do you mean by that kuroo?" "I mean have you found that person that just.. I don't know how to explain it. Its almost like the second you saw them, you just knew that was the person you were going to marry someday."
kenma blushed slightly. He saw kuroos cheeks dusted with pink as well. "Well yeah why do you ask?" kuroo turned his head to the cat like boy. "Wow really? I never knew a heart as cold as yours could find someone like that." they both lightly chuckled at the playful joke kuroo threw at kenma. Still smiling kenma lightly punched his arm and said. "I'm not that mean okay? So then.. Have you met them yet?"
kuroo shifted his gaze back to the calming lit sky. "Oh yeah definitely. I met him a long time ago. When i was a kid. I wasn't even in middle school yet. He had short black hair and looked really frail. He loves video games and looks like and adorable cat i could cuddle forever. I eventually got him into volleyball and now hes on my team. Not too long ago he bleached his hair and now he has pretty yellow-ish blonde hair with his roots growing out."
kuroos eyes had shifted to the ground. Sometime ago, he had intertwined his fingers with kenmas. Kenmas face was flushed with rose colored dust. His eyes were wide with his eyes also glued to the floor. "Kuroo.. Are you trying to say the person is me?" his eyes fixated on kuroo. Kuroos eyes met with his only to see a very red kuroo and a small nod. Kenmas face immediately turned into a wide grin. He basically tackled kuroo to the ground and hugged him tightly. Kuroo was layed on his back with kenma directly on top of him with kenmas arms wrapped around his neck. Kuroo wrapped his arms around kenmas small waist.
"Woah kitten! I've never seen you so excited before!" both of them were laughing like complete idiots. Idiots who loved each other very much. "Kenma, how about me? am I your person?" kenma gave him an energetic nod. Kuroo let out other joyful laugh and hugged him tighter. When the two boys had calmed down. They sat themselves up. Still siting close together. "Sorry i just got excited." kuroo gave him a smile and giggled. "I could tell. Its nice to see you happy." after a few moments of comforting silence. Kuroo asked. "Can i do something?"
kenma looked flustered and confused. Although he was hesitant he nodded. Kuroo grabbed kenmas chin, lifting his head up and gently placed his lips on his. It caught him off guard but he enjoyed every second of it. When kuroo pulled away, kenma hugged him once again, cuddling up to the older boy.
They cuddled with each other for what seemed liked forever that night. The beautiful moon lit sky complimented the momentary burst of fiery colors that would radiate the sky every once and awhile. needless to say, they were happy. "Hey kuroo?" he smiled "what is it kenma?" kenma tightened his grip for a moment. "I love you." kuroo was surprised with that phrase but it made him feel like the luckiest person in the world. Which he were. "I love you too kitten."
