Part 20: I can't do this without you, Zayn!

Zayn's P.O.V.

Blood. So much blood.

I bend down to see if Adriana was still breathing.

Barely.

Unsteady heartbeat.

Oh god, why did I have to shower? Why didn't I just stay with her?

Adriana's P.O.V.

"I can't do this without you, Zayn!" Repeated over and over in my head, pounding.

This is surely not a quick, easy death.

It's long and painful.

"I can't do this without you, Zayn!" I start muttering uncontrollably.

Zayn's P.O.V.

Adriana started mumbling something.

Can't Zayn? Huh? That makes no sense.

I put my ear next to her lips so I could understand what she was muttering.

Without you, Zayn.

What was without me?

Gosh Zayn, think! You know your girlfriend better than anybody! C'mon!

"I can't do this without you, Zayn!" Adriana said a little louder than it should have been.

"Adriana, what happened? Can you hear me, sweetie?" I ask, trying to keep her conscious.

"He," She paused and swallowed. "did," Another pause to swallow. "it."

Who did this to her?

Her dad? The guy who tried raping her? An old friend? An unpaid drug dealer?

Gosh, this questions haunt me!

I pick her up, carefully, bridal style, and carry her into the bathroom.

I set her in the bathtub and immediately turn the water on.

I use my hand to scrub the blood off of her body.

She grabs my hand with hers and sets it against her heart.

"I. Love. You." She whispered, then dropped her eyelids.

Oh god.

Is she dead?

Did she just pass away in my bathtub? In my arms?

I pull her out of the tub and set her on the floor.

I start giving her CPR.

"God, Adriana breathe! Breathe!"
