The Protean Operator

The Entire Story

Prologue-
Several years ago, the agents of Rainbow were alerted to the "Chimera" Outbreak, leading to the operation named, Operation: Chimera to commence. Leading to some of the history of the Chimera virus and the Chimera parasite. The big notes being some of its origins. The Chimera virus originated from a Soyuz capsule that crashed into the New Mexico deserts that was dragged into a small city named Truth-Or-Consequences. Patient zero, named Boyd Brooks, dragged the capsule into the junkyard near his residence in TOC. The outbreak surged in the small town, and it left Truth-Or-Consequences just a former husk as it was quarantined, not even a roach could enter and live. 

"The Virus though, the Parasite was something most would say is beyond the realm of something believable. The parasite was discovered to act like a zombie like virus, it infects the host and slowly mutated them into a Chimera Archaean.  The Archaeans has seem to have been acting like a hivemind and listen to those above it, leading to the top Archaeans. The Elites and the Apexes above them lead the Archaeans. Each victim slowly loses themselves to the parasite leaving the body just a husk and the brain is dead. Just a host for them to manipulate like a puppet. Pulling the strings for their own, malicious, hostile demands. "- Eliza "Ash" Cohen

But closer to recent times the parasite researched around Northern America, starting in New York on Liberty Island, tearing the statue to pieces and claiming victims forcing the world to halt and create the agency named REACT. It specializes into stopping and killing the Chimera parasite. Then migrating to San Francisco across the country, still unsure how or why there and not somewhere closer but it was speculated it was either asymptomatic carriers or airborne and selective. The parasite was smart and evolved as REACT began fighting it hard, then it migrated to Alaska attacking the tech giant Orpheus and their facilities in Nome and the private research center, the three targets were all new and not originally connected to the Chimera Parasite, but the latter two were connected to space and astronomy. Until it resurged in the last place anyone wished it to be. The start of the outbreak, Truth-Or-Consequences leading a resolution to an extent of the given problem, with all the new data that was learned from everything. Including the Proteans and how they were an irregularity to the world around them. They seem to avoid the doppelgänger though, or rather properly called the original, it caused strain on the Archaeans around them as well as themselves. But the time and data did nothing without more manpower.

"The Proteans have been recorded to just be the copies and fakes of currently known Operators. It appears no known way that the Archaeans choose who to copy and why? But given a recent theory proposed between Operator Finka and Agent Kobold with the FBI. It may be a mix, due to operators losing blood and sweat in the hot zones, what if the Proteans use the parasite like stem cells to make new bodies from the remnants of the operators. But the theory is only a theory but no full way to prove it. "- Jordan "Thermite" Trace.

With rising demands and months of work. Several new recruits from all over the globe came running to assist in the efforts of REACT. Ranging in experience from privates at the age of 19 to the Rainbow Six: Siege Operators. Roughly half of them joined REACT including the ones the veterans called, "The newbies". One small squad nicknamed, "The Fresh-meat" squad. Specialist Kobalt "Kobold" Montgomery; an explosives expert and team's knowledge base from the southern USA, but is native to south-eastern Germany. They were employed by Interpol to assist others in understanding the bombs made by of terrorist cells and organizations. Sergeant William "Razor" Goodwin; a tech and tactics expert of the squad, hailing from Cheyenne, Wyoming, employed by the CIA and Homeland Security to fight homeland terrorist cells. and Specialist Ryan "Fox" Stockin; The oldest of the trio and serves as the team's morale manager and weapons expert coming from New Jersey, but currently shacked up with Kobold. All three trained in fighting and later trained to fight the Chimera parasite with REACT. But neither side was prepared for the change the Fresh-meat squad would bring to this war! They were noticeably pushed by current REACT operators; James "Smoke" Porter and Elzbieta "Ela" Bosak. The squad was brought in by Jack "Pulse" Estrada. After the three worked a case during a break for Pulse working with a coordinated case in the states leaving them all plus more members from the FBI, CIA and Homeland Security. But of the agents with no history with REACT or stopping world level threats, the Fresh-meat squad were the only ones from the States to make it into REACT.
