CHAPTER 11

Don't tell people how to deal with their problems

The Unforseen Simulation Joint, was, roughly said, a huge training ground. Even compared to facilities like the Forest of Death in Konoha or the marshes of Kiri used for the Chu-nin exams, this place was relatively impressive. But for going to a school that provided entire districts for the entrance exam, the class was pretty much freaking out at the sight of the Usj.

Narrowing my eyes, I scanned the exits and various areas while half-heartedly listening to Space Hero No. 13's speech.

"-Not there to harm others. Today, I want you to understand that you have them to save others.", the woman in the unusual costume bowed widely. As I said: dramatically.

"That's it then, thank you for your attention." The children, standing around in a semicircle, applauded loudly.

Suddenly my breath caught. A pressure, barely perceptible but obvious to a shinobi, built up as if the air had thickened from one beat to the next. It felt similar to the fight with the masked man. By now I was sure he had manipulated the space-time fabric to bring me here, was there possibly someone with a similar Quirk nearby? It felt heavy, like an invisible weight on my lungs that put me on the highest alert. Yet no one else seemed to notice anything. If I hadn't been so tense, I probably would have shaken my head in disappointment.

Aizawa, who had just started to speak, stopped instantly when I raised my hand. Either he sensed my tension or he saw the expression in my eyes, basically I didn't really care.

"Three," my voice echoed strangely loud through the silence that had fallen. All the students had their confused gazes fixed on me, only that of the black-haired man, roamed frantically through the Usj. With my right hand, I slowly reached into the deep pocket of my trousers for the kunai and shuriken. As much as it pained me, I should use kubikiri only in case of an emergency.

"Two," for some reason no one had moved yet. I would have expected ninja to move into formation and brace themselves for a possible attack, students in this class to panic. Neither happened. Are they really that slow on the uptake? Apparently, because they just stood there, looking stupid. Well, apart from the blond guy, on whose forehead a wrinkle of anger was increasingly forming.

The pressure intensified, Aizawa now seemingly aware of it too, since his hands twitched slightly and I could see red flashing under his greasy hair.

"One," I whispered.

In that moment a murmur filled the air, normally it would probably have been lost in the chatter of the students.

Then, completely out of nowhere, dark purple smoke appeared at the edge of my field of vision. It spread out in a spiral, like...a portal.
One of the biggest mistakes in a fight was to wait. Shock paralysis made it incredibly difficult to hold your own against enemies who were attacking specifically. Even if you could not defend yourself, you should at least flee as soon as danger threatened.

Moreover, it was important to surprise the attackers before they had completed any possible preparations. That was exactly what I was doing now.

With my left hand, I opened an inner pocket of my top and let three paper bombs slide out. I attached the first one to the kunai in my right hand within a split second.
I prepared the other throwing knives in the same way and before it could advance any further, I threw the kunai and bombs into the purple mist with the precision of an experienced ninja.
