I was watching my brother skate around the ice with my 6 month old daughter Olivia. Kaden was sitting on the bench coloring. It has been a year since their father left. He could not handle being a father so he left. He felt that he was too young to be a dad. His brother tho was just drafted for a second time by the Ducks. I still keep contact with his brother. I have even started to teach Kaden to speak Danish. I met Jake when I was studying in Denmark. I was living in Finland when it happened after Jake left I moved to Montreal to be close to my brother Carey. I luckily due to taking classes in the summer finished school in 2 years.I also finished high school early as well. I am now 23 years. Me and Jake's younger brother by a year Freddie are still very good friends i try to face time him once a week so that he can see his niece and nephew. Freddie was pissed when he found out that Jake abandoned his kids. Did I forget to mention that Freddie is Frederik Andersen the new goaltender for the Anaheim Ducks.
Since then Carey has been a big support system for me. He helps take care of the kids when ever he can. Even to sometimes give me a break. The kids love their uncle Carey. Especially Olivia she lights up when ever she sees him.
"Avery!" Brendan calls. I look over.
"Yes."I say.
"There is someone here to see you." I nod.
"Carey! Can you watch Olivia I will be right back." I call to Carey. Carey nods with a smile holding Olivia.I go to leave but Kaden who is very much a mommas boy runs after me. I laugh and pick him up on my hip. I get to my office and See Mario Lemeiux of the Pittsburgh Penguins in my office. I walk in the office and set Kaden down he runs over and grabs his hockey action figures. His favorite is Marc-Andre Fleury of the penguins.
"Sorry to keep you waiting I was just out near the rink watching my brother skate around. What can I help you with." I ask smiles in understanding.
"Our head trainer just retired. I flew out here to personally meet with you. I have heard alot of good things about you I feel you would be a very good fit for the position." He says I look at him shocked he would come all of this way.
"I don't know. I am a single mother of 2 kids under 3. My whole support system is out in Montreal. My youngest is too young to go into a day care. She would have to come to work with me." I say.
"I can allow that. I will personally pay for your moving expenses I will also have a house waiting for you. There is a day care across the street from the arena. Just look at what we are offering. From what I know it is a lot more then what you make now." He says handing me the contract. I look it over and he is right it is a very good job offer. Too good to turn down but it would mean moving to Pittsburgh.
"Let me talk to my brother and I will call with my decision." I say. He nods and hands me his business card. He walks out. I sit down and look over the contract Carey comes in a few minutes later.
"Avery why did Mario just leave your office?" Carey asks setting a sleeping Olivia in her car seat and buckling her in.
"He came all this way to offer me the head trainer job for the pens. It is a lot more money then I make now. But it would mean me moving to Pittsburgh." I say. Carey grabs the contract and reads over it.
"Avery you have to take it an offer like this does not come around every day. We can face time every day and I will still see you when and the kids when I play the pens." He says. I nod and hug him and he holds me close to him.
"Me and the kids will miss you. There is no way I could have gotten through this last year without you. I should probably call Freddie and tell him." I say. Carey nods his head yes. I pick my cellphone up and call my best friend Freddie. Freddie was excited that the kids and I would be moving closer to him. I sign the contract before grabbing my phone and accepting the offer.
