You walked side by side with James, the rest of the Marauders ahead of you as they laughed and joked without a care in the world, unlike others.
"Cheer up, Potter" you said, nudging his side with your arm as he gave you a forced smile "What's wrong?" you asked in a serious voice, the look in his face worrying you more than ever.
"It's nothing, really." he told you, avoiding your eyes. You slowed down your pace and he did the same, standing in the middle of a hall in utter silence.
"Is it about Lily?" you asked, pointing a hand to the path you came from "Honestly, James. It was fine at the beginning but years of running after her? You deserve better than that." you huffed, an annoyed look in your face as you crossed your arms over your chest.
He chuckled, making you frown as you looked back at him "It's not her, Y/N." he mumbled, rubbing the back of his head "I think I might like someone else." he confessed, making you break into a huge smile.
"That's great, Jamie." you beamed, hugging him tightly "Well, who is it?" you asked once you let go of him.
But then you noticed his eyes weren't on you anymore. Well, they were but not in your eyes. Your stomach woke up with the sudden feeling of a thousand butterflies flying around as he took a hesitant step forward. His eyes found yours again, a shy smile there when you didn't move back.
"Can I-" he whispered, never getting the chance to finish his question when you closed the small space between the two of you.
It was soft at first, slowly moving your lips against his as he reached his hands to your waist, pulling you closer to him until no space was left in between. He tilted his head, deepening the kiss as you moved your hands from his chest to wrap around his neck. It was absolutely perfect.
His eyes remained close when you pulled away, a blissful smile in his face making you blush as he let out a breathless laugh "I never realised a kiss could feel so good." he whispered, opening his eyes to the glint in your eyes "I mean I knew it could feel good but I usually make the others feel good, not me and..." he rambled, your chuckle pulling him out of his trance.
"Shut up and kiss me." you laughed, not wasting another second before his lips were on your again.
