Dabi awoke to the sound of rummaging around in the kitchen. It was morning so before panicking he came to the conclusion that Maddie was in the kitchen looking for food. He could tell by the frantic looking around that she was having trouble finding anything, so he got up to go and assist her. Itching his neck, he put a shirt on and opened his bedroom door. The suspicions he had were correct, as he saw Maddie on her tip-toes looking through the cabinet. She could see him moving out of the corner of her eye, so she stopped what she was doing to greet him.

"Oh, good morning, Dabi." Maddie waved to him.

"Uh... good... morning." Dabi paused with each word. This was the first time in a long time he said "good morning" to someone. "What are you looking for?"

"I was wondering what you had for breakfast. I ran out of cereal bars." Maddie admitted with a chuckle.

Dabi stared for a moment. "Ramen." He told her with little emotion, reaching into the cabinet above her to get himself a cup.

"What?! No! That's not healthy for you!" Maddie immediately grabbed the cup from him and put it on the counter.

"It's... kind of all I have." Dabi stared at her.

"There's got to be something!" Maddie looked in another cabinet and let out a happy smile. "Oh! We have cereal!"

Dabi gave her a small smile. "I hate to break it to you, kid, but that cereal's been in there for a year." He took the box from her before she tried to pour it into a bowl.

"Oh..." Maddie let out a little frown that made Dabi feel kind of bad about it. "Well... I don't want you to have to eat ramen for breakfast."

"It's really okay. I do it almost every morning." Dabi chuckled.

"Hmmm..." Maddie thought for a moment and then checked the fridge. She grew happy again when she found a carton of eggs. "Oh! I'll make us eggs!" She whipped out the carton and showed it to Dabi.

"Make sure no chickens have hatched in there." Dabi smirked with a little tease. This got a laugh from Maddie, which gave him a sense of satisfaction. He then registered what she had said. "Us?"

"Yeah." Maddie grabbed a pan and turned on the stove. "I'm going to make us eggs. Is that okay?"

"Y-Yeah, it's fine, but... you don't have to do that." Dabi shook his head.

Maddie giggled at his modesty. "You deserve it after everything you've done for me."

Dabi frowned. "You forget the part when I yelled at you and called you a pathetic Pro Hero brat."

"I didn't forget. It's just in the past now." Maddie said as she cracked an egg. "You apologized and you like me a little better now, right?"

Dabi blushed a little when he saw her expression. It was seeming to be wanting a correct answer. It was an easy one to solve, but at the same time it made him freeze up. "Y-Yeah... I do."

Maddie let out a little smile and a giggle, assuring Dabi that he had said the right thing. "So, I don't mind making eggs for you. I think it's much better than ramen for breakfast."

"You're probably right." Dabi admitted.  "Thank you."

"Uh huh." Maddie nodded happily. "Do you mind if they're scrambled?"

"I don't care." Dabi shook his head.

Maddie finished scrambling the egg she had cracked into the pan and put it on a paper plate she found in the covered. She handed it to Dabi, which he wasn't expecting at the moment. He thought she would serve herself first and then make some for him. With an odd look and staring at his food she prepared for him, he slowly walked over the couch, not really knowing what to say to her. It felt redundant to say "thanks" again. Turning on the TV, he plopped on the old couch cushion and prepared to watch yet another episode of his favorite show. The smell of the salty eggs on his plate caught his attention and he stuck his fork in to take the first bite. It tasted amazing. A small hint of red went across his cheeks as he chewed and got to experience the wonders of having someone cook for him. All his life he has been taking care of himself. Not only were the eggs good, but the fact that they were made by the kind Maddie who wanted to cook for him made them even better. He was so fixated on it that he didn't realize Maddie right next to him with her plate.
