||Jenny POV||

     Jenny had recently moved in with Sophie, and the two had begun dating, but she was incredibly concerned for Sophie. She had frequent nightmares and flashbacks to the life before passing through foster homes and living in constant fear, which was now mostly forgotten. She had also seen Sophie leaving in the middle of the night a couple times, and she wanted to know what was going on.
     She stayed up all night, waiting for Sophie to leave, and followed suit. She saw that Sophie had brought a bat, and was wearing a backpack. Maybe she was just leaving to go do some late-night batting practice. Jenny knew plenty of people who turned to sports when stressed, surely that was just what Sophie was doing, right?
     Her hope for this outcome faded as Sophie ventured into the woods, though. She made sure to only step where Sophie stepped and avoided leaves and twigs. She really didn't want to be following Sophie to god-knows-where, but it was a morbid curiosity she couldn't ignore.
     Her horror grew, though, as she watched from the shadows as Sophie pulled a mask out of her bag and put it on, dropping the backpack on the ground and hopping the fence to somebody's backyard.
     Jenny couldn't resist. She followed her girlfriend over the fence, watching her enter the home. What in the world was going on? She could only assume, based on the mask and baseball bat. This was awful. Had Sophie always managed to hide this from Jenny? It clearly wasn't her first rodeo.
     She waited for about 10 minutes before she finally followed Sophie into the house. All seemed to be normal and peaceful. She stepped silently up the stairs, walking down the moonlit hallway and approaching an opened door.
     She covered her mouth at the sight. Sophie kneeling over somebody, a butcher's knife in her hand, carving into the flesh of her victim. Sophie's head snapped in Jenny's direction and she quickly stood, dropping the blade in her hand.
     "Jenny! Behind you!" She exclaimed. Jenny swiveled around, met by the horrified face of a man. She instinctually pulled back a fist, slamming into the man's face, causing him to stumble backwards.
     "Quick, finish him off!" Sophie called, tossing her trusty baseball bat to Jenny. She caught it and bashed it into the man's head, repeatedly swinging it down until his face was nothing more than a pulp.
     "Wow. You're good at that." Sophie said, admiring Jenny's work with her arms crossed. Jenny let the bat slip from her fingers, and it clattered to the ground. She looked from the body, to Sophie, and back to the body.
     "You really think so?"
     "Of course I do. I mean, the sneaking, the quick reactions, the... untamed violence." Sophie said, awe in her voice. "I didn't even know you were following me until I saw you there in the doorway."
     "Well. I guess I've always wondered what it's like to kill somebody."
     "You have?"
     "I have."
     "This was the perfect opportunity for you, then. How do you feel?" Sophie asked, removing her mask.
     "I feel all jittery and excited. A lot happier than I thought. I always imagined I would be scared and regretful, but standing here now, I'm relaxed."
     "I'm glad that you're glad. Now that the body's there, would you like to watch me make a masterpiece?" She asked, an odd smile on her face.
     "Oh? Sounds interesting. Go ahead." Jenny stepped aside, leaning on the wall of the room.
     Sophie began her work. She dragged the man over to the center of the room, laying him next to who Jenny could only assume was his wife. As she watched Sophie's delicate movements, she realized that Jenny was wearing thick gardening gloves and plastic bags as shoe covers.

||Sophie POV||

     When she was done, the two victims were laying next to each other, their torsos cut open and completely hollowed besides the bones. The organs of the pair had been placed in their bathroom sink, spilling over the side of the counter and onto the floor. Sophie was now rinsing blood off of her tools in the same sink, while Jenny looked at the gutted bodies.
     Sophie returned to Jenny, who was resting her chin on her hand as she stared at the corpses, almost as if she were trying to think of the meaning behind an abstract art piece. That was what she was doing, in a way.
     "Shall we go home, then?" Sophie cooed, and Jenny nodded. She removed her gloves, tucking them into her back pocket and taking her girlfriend's hand, the two of them leaving back the way they came. Luckily, Jenny hadn't left any shoe-prints behind, and no cleaning was required.
     They arrived back at their house, but neither of them were tired. The two of them changed their bloodied clothes and sat down on the couch, hand in hand. There was a moment of silence before Jenny spoke up.
     "How long have you been doing this? Your... art, I mean."
     "Well, I... I can't quite remember. I think it was after my siblings went missing. Like I said, though, it's really hard for me to tell. It's like my mind doesn't want me to think about it, you know?" Jenny nodded in understanding.
     "I guess that I've always wanted somebody to share this passion with, though. It's always felt so lonely, making my art with nobody to share it with. And now you're here. I was scared that you would be just like the others, and wouldn't understand, but you were just so... powerful. You were like an animal. It was a perfectly controlled chaos." Sophie said, Jenny blushing at the compliments.
     "Oh, you! I wasn't THAT good!" Jenny remarked, the two of them giggling. "Anyways, since I assume that we're not going to get another victim for a while, I've got an idea of what we can do tomorrow. I found this old arcade machine in this abandoned hotel. It's called Bunnyfarm or something."
     "Sounds interesting. Did you play it at all?" Sophie asked, stretching out and resting her head against Jenny, her legs dangling off of the arm of the couch. She shut her eyes and sighed happily.
     "Yeah. I noticed that it had some pretty freaky glitches. Maybe it's haunted!" Sophie and Jenny laughed before falling asleep in each others arms. Jesus, their story was looking grim, but they loved what they were doing and they loved each other. That's all they ever needed.
