||Jenny POV||
Jenny and Sophie had only become closer after Sophie had opened up to her, and she liked it that way. It was now the final week of school. Everybody was much more laid back, especially Sophie. Jenny could tell how much school tortured her. It wasn't the work that was tough for her, though. It was the people.
It was incredibly rainy, and school had just gotten out, so Sophie and Jenny were sitting beneath a tree's thick leaves, waiting for the rain to calm, or at least for somebody to offer them an umbrella. They were chatting absently about graduation and their plans in life.
"My asshole foster parents, they want me out of the house as soon as graduation day. I'm gonna have to find a roommate, but I'm not looking forward to sharing a home with some random person." Sophie groaned. Jenny often heard her complaining about one thing or another, but she didn't mind. Opposites attract, after all.
"Hey, maybe you could be my roommate! I've already got a place, and it would be lonely with nobody there, and then you wouldn't have to be living with a stranger!" Jenny suggested. She wasn't sure Sophie would like the idea until she saw her eyes light up.
"That would be great! Plus, we would never lose contact!" Sophie said excitedly. Jenny chuckled at how enthusiastic Sophie was. As the two grew closer, Jenny didn't know what to think of it, but she had developed feelings for Sophie. At least they could be close friends, because Jenny didn't believe they would ever really be... together.||Sophie POV||
Sophie knew that Jenny had absolutely no idea how lovestruck she was. Every day spent with Jenny, every moment, every laugh and smile, it only made her life better. Sophie was usually great at keeping to herself, but she couldn't do it anymore. She had to tell Jenny her feelings.
Graduation day had finally arrived! There was going to be a party at somebody's house, and Jenny had invited Sophie along. She wasn't a very social person, so she never went to parties, but if it meant a chance to confess to Jenny, she played along.
She eventually spotted Jenny, who was wearing one of her usual turtleneck sweaters as well as a pair of comfortable, slightly worn-down jeans. Sophie was wearing a thick and warm fleece-lined jacket. The two spent some time at the party, chatting with others and having drinks. Sophie didn't leave Jenny's side once, and had not talked to anybody that Jenny didn't talk to first.
The party eventually began to calm down, and Sophie decided, this was it. This was the perfect opportunity. She gently tapped Jenny on the arm, who turned to her with a questioning look in her eyes.
"I need to tell you something. Could we find a more private place?" Sophie asked, rubbing the back of her neck nervously.
"Of course! I know just the place." Jenny said, leading Sophie through the house and into the backyard. The two clambered up a ladder on a tree, finding themselves in a tree house. It was a nice little place, rather small. Clearly made for children that were now grown.
"Alright. Now, what is it that you wanted to tell me?" Jenny asked, crossing her legs and leaning forward a bit. Sophie's eyes sparkled as she looked at her. Freckles dotted across her face, orange hair curled and frizzy. "Sophie? Were you going to tell me something?"
"Oh! Right, uh, sorry... Sorry." Sophie said, snapping back to reality. She took a deep breath and wiped the sweat collecting on her face. "Well, I just wanted to say, uh... Jenny, I..." she took Jenny's hand in hers, looking into her eyes. "I love you, Jenny. I love you more than anything. I know that you probably hate me now, and that you'll turn away from me and never talk to me again, a-"
Sophie was silenced by Jenny taking her into a tight hug. Her heart thumped in her chest as he hugged back, the two of them sitting in silence for a moment with their arms tangled around each other.
"Sophie, I love you too. I was always too scared to say so, but now that I know that you feel the same, then I finally feel free to say my thoughts. I knew there was something special between us ever since we met."
The two looked into each other's eyes. Sophie didn't know how to react to what she just heard. Jenny loved her back, yes, she loved her back! She wanted to say something, but her heart just kept beating in her chest, her eyes sparkling with delight.
"You look so beautiful right now, Sophie." Jenny said, running her fingers through her wavy chestnut-colored locks. Sophie melted at that, resting her cheek in the palm of Jenny's hand. Sophie sighed happily.
"You look stunning too, my dear." She said, almost whispering. "Can I kiss you?" She said, the sentence slipping out of her lips. She hadn't meant to say it, but Jenny smiled and opened her arms for Sophie.
"Get over here, of course you can." Jenny said, leaning forwards slightly. Sophie shuffled over, tucking herself into Jenny's arms. Their lips connected in a moment of passion, Sophie's body pressed against Jenny's.
Eventually they separated, and Sophie rolled onto her back, laying next to Jenny. The both of them held hands, looking up at the stars through the open roof of the treehouse. Everything was peaceful at that time.
"Well, I guess we should be going home now. I've got to grab my things so we can move in together." Sophie said, gently squeezing Jenny's hand. Jenny sighed happily and nodded, sitting up.
"I'll drive. I assume you were dropped off here." Jenny said, kissing Sophie on the cheek before standing, Sophie joining her. The two were chatting and flirting during the whole drive to the home of Sophie's foster parents. The stay there wasn't long, though. Sophie simply grabbed her bag and her baseball bat, leaving without saying a word.
The two continued talking on the way to Jenny's home. Sophie wasn't sure of how Jenny was feeling, but she was the happiest she had been in her life. It was just great for her to be there, with somebody who made her so happy. Even on rainy days.
