Perhaps you have noticed that Voldemort is a great deal more powerful here. Heh. Yes, I like it that way.

Also feel free to insult my update schedule. I deserve it.

And yes, this chapter is short, but I had no reason to extend it and I wanted it to be impactful. But since it is short, another chapter should be up this weekend.

There might be a bit of OOC, but I tried. Please leave a comment and tell me what you think!

Night had risen. She'd woken as soon as the boy came knocking at her door.

Nyx was not one to concern herself with mortal affairs-in fact she tried to stay out of them as much as possible. But when a half blood of Hades fell into her domain, she knew. Perhaps she would've just extinguished him if not for what she had planned.

A week ago, a month ago, a year ago, a century-she didn't know, but it was recent. A man and a snake visited her. He told her of his plans. She didn't necessarily agree-why would she? There was no reason for her to help the man. But she could sense his immense power, so she didn't disagree either. After all, the surface did not bother her. She stayed in Tartarus, but since the man had come, she had agreed to keep an eye out for any mortals.

Nyx knew she could defeat the man-nothing could resist the night. But she knew she couldn't do it without great harm to herself, so she had decided to let the mortals play their game. Then she would defeat him. But not when she could hurt herself-she had many enemies who might take advantage of that.

Was it dishonourable? Yes. Nyx didn't mind. The darkness covers all lies. Night hides who you truly are.

But she would play the game of lies, for this was her home. She hid in the shadows and let whispers tell the tale.

So when the half blood fell from the sky, she diverted her attention for more than a second. He had raven hair.

A rhyme went through her mind as she looked at the mortal.

Raven's feather will fall

Nyx considered her promise. She held out her hand and a cage made of shadows appeared.

Before the sun rises

She had seen this boy before. He had wandered in here. She had warned him to never return. Why had she warned him?

Shadows will rise and befall

She'd warned him because of the terrors in Tartarus.

All shall meet their demises

But everyone would die, so did it matter if she told them or not? What had the son of Hades done for her to notice him?

Survive. Not many did that here. And he did a fine job of it.

She blinked once at the shadow cage and the son of Hades was locked inside. She blinked again and the cage vanished, transported to her palace. Nyx vanished as well a second later. The cage was suspended from the ceiling.

The Hades spawn is safe there, Nyx thought. I guard my prizes. That man should return soon, or I'll make him.

The door melted away and a figure stood in place of the melted shadow.

"Hello, Lady Mother."

Nyx raised her gaze to the figure. "You left to support that man against the mortals."

"Yes. I always enjoy a chance to mettle."

"You should not have. I do not engage with mortals."

"You have one hanging from your ceiling."

"A prize. He came here of his own regard." Nyx looked at her daughter. "Why are you here?"

"Because I have fooled those at the demigod camp. I have decieved them, and captured the centaur."

Nyx tilted her head. "Did you expect my congratulations?"

"Never."

The doors were remade as a response, shutting the figure outside. But Nyx's daughter didn't care.

For Apate smiled.
